Job Description
REPORTS TO:
Clinical Director
JOB TYPE:
Full-time, salaried position. Some evening hours may be required.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Therapist provides trauma-informed clinical services to clients impacted by sexual assault and abuse. This position provides individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, advocacy, and referrals to support clients throughout their healing journey. The Clinical Therapist utilizes evidence-based and trauma-informed therapeutic approaches, collaborates with internal teams and community partners, and provides compassionate, client-centered care that aligns with SAC’s mission to promote healing and end sexual violence through counseling, education, and advocacy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide quality, effective trauma-informed therapy to a variety clients impacted by sexual assault and abuse, including individual and group therapy services. This may include clients at SAC and clients at various MOU partners.
Utilize evidence-based and trauma-informed clinical approaches to support clients in processing trauma, developing coping strategies, and working toward individualized healing goals.
Maintain a full caseload of clients seeking therapeutic services while managing clinical responsibilities and documentation requirements.
Conduct clinical assessments and maintain accurate client records and documentation in accordance with agency standards and professional requirements.
Provide crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and referrals to support clients’ immediate and ongoing needs.
Collaborate with SAC Advocates and other internal team members to support coordinated, survivor-centered services.
Participate in weekly Clinical Team meetings, case staffing, and consultation to support quality client care and clinical collaboration.
Actively participate in individual clinical supervision and engage in ongoing professional development.
Advocate for clients by assisting with access to resources, providing documentation and letters of support as appropriate, and collaborating with community providers and partners to address client needs and support healing.
Engage in outreach and community-based activities as needed to support SAC’s mission and community partnerships.
Collaborate with other SAC teams, including Intake, Advocacy, Training and Prevention, the SAFE Clinic, and the Statewide Crisis Line, on agency initiatives and client support efforts as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or another relevant clinical discipline.
Active Tennessee Health Related Board independent clinical license or active pursuit of licensure required.
Experience providing trauma-informed care required.
Minimum of three years of post-graduate clinical experience preferred.
Experience providing therapy services to survivors of sexual assault, abuse, or other trauma-related experiences preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience providing clinical care to survivors of sexual assault and/or trauma.
Ability to provide compassionate, culturally responsive, and affirming care to clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Ability to provide therapy services to clients across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, and adults.
Strong understanding of trauma responses and the impact of trauma on individuals, families, and communities.
Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and community partners.
Commitment to personal wellness and “we” care practices that support sustainability in trauma-focused work.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to maintain thorough and timely clinical documentation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to navigate electronic health record and client documentation systems.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
