Job Description

Accounting Services Manager

Hope & Help of Central Florida is seeking an experienced Accounting Services Manager to provide leadership and oversight of the organization’s accounting operations.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position oversees key accounting functions and helps ensure financial operations, reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and compliance activities are accurate, timely, and aligned with organizational requirements.

The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting knowledge, hands-on management experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment. Experience with nonprofit accounting and grant-funded programs is highly valued, although candidates with strong accounting management experience and the ability to learn nonprofit and grant requirements are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash reconciliations, capital assets, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Compile, analyze, and present financial reports for management and external stakeholders.
Assist with organizational and program budgets and monitor budget-to-actual performance.
Maintain effective accounting processes, policies, internal controls, and compliance practices.
Support financial management and reporting associated with grant-funded programs.
Ensure fiscal records are accurate and maintained in accordance with organizational requirements and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Coordinate internal and external audits, including preparation of financial records, schedules, and supporting documentation.
Support timely month-end, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, improve efficiency, and implement automation.
Provide accounting guidance and technical support to organizational leadership and departments.
Support the CFO with special projects and financial initiatives.
Supervise and develop accounting staff through goal setting, delegation, training, coaching, and performance management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
Minimum of five years of related professional accounting or finance experience.
At least 1–2 years of managerial or supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, internal controls, and audit practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial information and identify discrepancies and trends.
Proficiency with accounting systems, Microsoft Excel, and financial data-management tools.
Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to exercise sound professional judgment and appropriately manage sensitive and confidential financial information.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with nonprofit accounting.
Experience working with grants, grant-funded programs, grant accounting, or related financial reporting and compliance requirements.
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification.
Experience leading accounting process improvements or financial-system implementations.
Bilingual skills.
