Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming and professional first impression by greeting all guests promptly and courteously upon arrival.
  • Manage guest flow by maintaining waitlists, providing accurate wait time estimates, and coordinating seating arrangements.
  • Effectively manage reservations using the restaurant’s reservation system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Escort guests to their assigned tables in the dining room, lounge, or patio while maintaining seating plans and service standards.
  • Present menus, provide relevant information about the restaurant, and introduce guests to their assigned server.
  • Monitor table availability and communicate with servers and management to optimize seating capacity and table turnover.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls promptly, assist with reservations, and respond to guest inquiries professionally.
  • Provide attentive assistance to guests with special requests or accessibility needs, including children, seniors, and individuals requiring additional support.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional host stand and reception area at all times.
  • Support front-of-house operations by assisting with table clearing, resetting, and other side duties as required.
  • Address guest concerns courteously and escalate issues to management when appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with the service team to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
  • Thank guests upon departure and invite them to return.
  • Comply with all company policies, health and safety standards, and service procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Host/Hostess, Guest Services Representative, or in a customer-facing hospitality role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of restaurant operations, guest service standards, and dining room etiquette.
  • Experience managing reservations and waitlists using reservation management systems.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, both in person and over the phone.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle guest concerns professionally.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as required.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the restaurant for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous hospitality or customer service experience considered an asset.
