This is a high-trust, high-impact leadership role supporting the CEO in shaping organizational direction, external voice, and strategic execution. You will act as a close advisor and operational extension of the executive office, ensuring priorities are clearly defined, communicated, and executed across teams and stakeholders. The role blends executive communication, strategic operations, and hands-on project leadership in a fast-moving mission-driven environment. Beyond traditional Chief of Staff responsibilities, you will also lead special initiatives that span communications, AI-enabled tooling, and organizational strategy. This position requires strong judgment, exceptional writing ability, and the capacity to operate with autonomy in complex and evolving situations. It is ideal for a builder-operator who thrives at the intersection of strategy, storytelling, and execution.
- Serve as the primary operational partner to the CEO, managing priorities, workflows, and strategic focus across the organization.
- Act as a trusted proxy for the CEO by handling communications, triaging requests, and managing follow-ups across internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare briefings, materials, and talking points for high-stakes meetings and represent the CEO in select discussions when appropriate.
- Own and lead executive communications, including thought leadership content, public messaging, and media engagement coordination.
- Oversee and support the communications and marketing function, partnering with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and strategic alignment.
- Manage and program executive-facing initiatives such as advisory boards, ensuring effective coordination and stakeholder engagement.
- Lead ambiguous, cross-functional special projects from inception to execution, including AI-enabled tools, internal systems, and strategic initiatives.
- Build lightweight analytics and operational systems to track communication impact, organizational priorities, and executive effectiveness.
- 7+ years of experience in Chief of Staff, strategy, communications, or high-intensity generalist roles in fast-paced environments.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to write in an executive voice across multiple formats.
- Strong experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and ambiguous requirements.
- High fluency with AI tools and modern workflows, including experience building or automating lightweight systems and internal tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to create dashboards, track performance metrics, and translate data into actionable insights.
- High emotional intelligence with strong relationship-building skills and the ability to operate with discretion in sensitive contexts.
- Proven ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and execute rapidly in ambiguous environments.
- Genuine interest in mission-driven work, particularly in education, equity, or social impact domains.
- Competitive salary range of $150,000 – $175,000, based on experience.
- Remote-first flexibility across the United States, with preference for PST-aligned working hours.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage for employees and dependents.
- 401(k) plan with 4% employer match, vested immediately.
- Generous paid time off, flexible scheduling, and paid parental leave.
- Annual stipends for home office setup and professional development.
- Life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage.
- Opportunity to work closely with executive leadership on high-impact strategic initiatives.
- Travel opportunities (up to 40% within the U.S.) for relationship-building and organizational engagement.
