Job Summary
The Corporate Paralegal will serve as a key resource for our legal and organizational operations. This role will support all administrative functions related to the legal department to elevate the team’s service delivery.
Essential Job Functions
- Models company mission and values
- Create and maintain corporate records for a growing portfolio of entities.
- Prepare corporate filings, corporate resolutions, meeting minutes, and annual reports to ensure all corporate entities remain in good standing.
- Manage risk management databases and maintain litigation lists, including insurance defense litigation.
- Monitor and fulfill filing requirements for local/state/federal regulatory agencies.
- Work closely with the asset management and property management teams to ensure legal administrative needs are met.
- Assist in the acquisition, financing, and rehabilitation of multi-family residential properties by managing closing checklists, creating and maintaining closing binders, coordinating with title companies, surveyors, and other applicable deal parties, organizing high volumes of documentation for innovative financing structures, and overseeing “post-closing” deliverables.
- Assist with the coordination of calendars and manage the streamline of legal needs and assignments, to include expectation setting and communicating with various staff as it relates to work flow.
- Assist with standardization of contract forms, and ensure all contracts align with our company philosophy and compliance standards.
- Support the General Counsel and other legal team members in streamlining internal processes.
- Completes special projects as required.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Associate’s degree required, Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
- Paralegal certification from an accredited institution highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal department required; experience supporting real estate and/or property management organizations highly preferred.
- Strong interest in real estate development, multifamily housing, and affordable housing.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting applications.
- A passion for/interest in the affordable housing industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extremely proficient in MS Office and virtual meeting applications.
- Detail-oriented, organized, motivated, meticulous, practical & flexible.
- Able to effectively handle multiple and shifting priorities and maintain professional composure.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, high energy and team-oriented environment.
- Able to complete high quality work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to develop relationships with coworkers, business partners and colleagues.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
