Description:
The Operations Manager will oversee and manage entire production for a 10-acre greenhouse located at our McAdoo, PA facility. Key priority is ensuring that products are produced consistently and efficiently to specified quality and operational standards to be shipped to customers on time and in full.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage ~100-person team to deliver the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost of production.
- Identify and address key operating challenges to continuously improve the operations.
- Coordinates with maintenance, sanitation, and other personnel as needed to achieve desired operational performance
- Accountable for production cost, labor utilization, waste, line efficiencies, raw material usages.
- Ensure that standard operating procedures and GMPs are implemented and adhered to consistently.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records (i.e., time sheets, downtime records, absentee records, etc.).
- Enforces all company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
- Produce and report daily/weekly KPIs to illustrate business trends
- Willingness to be on-call and respond to emergency situations as needed. This may include scheduling issues, potentially covering a vacant shift, facility issues and/or human resources requirements.
- Expected to adhere to safe work practices, , maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure that product quality is maintained.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere to get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Direct management of 50+ individuals in a manufacturing setting.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
- Master’s Degree in Business Management, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge & understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, certifications.
- Exposure to agriculture and/or food & beverage manufacturing and/or lab processing.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing a P&L.
- Can-do attitude and ability to adapt quickly; business is experiencing tremendous growth so previous operational experience in growth environment is preferred.
- Adapts and thrives in a demanding, start-up/scale-up, fast-paced environment.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, non-verbal, written), with the ability to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Possesses a high level of critical thinking.
- Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish
