Position Summary
Imperial Golf Club is seeking an experienced and member-focused Merchandise Manager to oversee the Golf Shop retail operation and elevate the overall member shopping experience. This position is responsible for selecting and managing premium merchandise, creating elevated visual presentations, coordinating tournament and event gifting, and driving retail performance through exceptional service and product knowledge.
The Merchandise Manager plays an important role in creating a welcoming and personalized experience for members and guests while supporting the club’s commitment to hospitality, professionalism, and excellence. This position will also represent the Club at industry buying events, merchandise markets, and trade shows to stay current on trends, strengthen vendor relationships, and curate a premier retail offering for the membership.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesRetail & Merchandising
- Select, purchase, and oversee a high-end golf merchandise collection that reflects the Club's culture, member preferences, and evolving industry trends
- Create and maintain visually appealing merchandise displays, seasonal floor sets, and branded presentations that reflect the high standards and image of Imperial Golf Club
- Monitor inventory levels, purchasing, receiving, transfers, and stock replenishment
- Analyze sales trends and product performance to maximize revenue and inventory efficiency
- Coordinate special orders and personalized member requests
- Attend industry buying events, merchandise markets, and trade shows to identify emerging trends and source new merchandise opportunities
Member Experience
- Deliver elevated and personalized shopping experiences, including one-on-one styling and wardrobe assistance
- Build strong relationships with members and guests to anticipate preferences and provide exceptional service
- Provide creative sales techniques and product recommendations to enhance the member retail experience
- Maintain a polished, welcoming, and professional retail environment
Club Events & Coordination
- Work closely with the Head Golf Professional and leadership team to plan major and minor golf events
- Coordinate tournament merchandise, tee gifts, trophies, awards, and event gifting
- Assist with club initiatives, promotions, and seasonal merchandising programs
Vendor & Team Management
- Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships while negotiating product selections and purchasing opportunities
- Stay current on golf industry trends, brands, and emerging merchandise opportunities
- Train and mentor Golf Shop staff regarding merchandise knowledge, sales techniques, and service standards
- Support a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on hospitality and professionalism
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years of merchandising experience, preferably within a high-end private golf club, luxury retail, or hospitality environment
- Proven expertise in premium golf apparel and accessories
- Strong background in delivering elevated member or client service with a focus on personalized shopping experiences
- Exceptional visual merchandising skills with strong attention to detail and brand presentation
- Demonstrated ability to analyze sales trends, manage inventory, and drive retail performance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a polished and professional demeanor
- Ability to build strong relationships with members, vendors, and team members
- Experience working in private clubs or hospitality environments preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, retail systems, and point-of-sale platforms preferred

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and move merchandise up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments and in varying weather conditions
- Occasional club events may require evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed
