Description: Optician Assistant

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Position Description

We are looking for a dependable and personable Optician Assistant to join our optical team. The Optician Assistant will work closely with the Optician and eye care team to assist patients with their eyewear needs and provide excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

Requirements: Optician Assistant Responsibilities
  • Greet and assist patients with their optical needs.
  • Obtain patient information and prescriptions from Optometrists and Ophthalmologists.
  • Assist with taking measurements of the ocular area.
  • Help patients select frames that suit their style, face, prescription, and lifestyle.
  • Assist with recommending lens options, including tints, anti-reflective coatings, sports eyewear, and occupational eyewear.
  • Assist with fitting and adjusting frames to ensure proper fit and comfort.
  • Prepare and organize work orders for Optical Technicians.
  • Assist with checking eyewear orders for accuracy.
  • Learn to use optical equipment such as lensometers, calipers, and lens gauges.
  • Help maintain inventory of frames, contact lenses, and other optical products.
  • Assist with minor frame repairs and adjustments.
  • Educate patients on proper care and maintenance of their glasses and contact lenses.
  • Assist with managing prescriptions, patient records, insurance information, and other administrative duties.
  • Keep the optical area clean, organized, and well stocked.
  • Provide friendly and professional customer service throughout the patient experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous optical, healthcare, or customer service experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well with patients and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn optical terminology, procedures, and equipment.
