Senior Specialty Consultative Pharmacist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Specialty Consultative Pharmacist based in the United States.

This is a fully remote clinical pharmacy opportunity focused on supporting patients managing serious, complex, and rare health conditions.
You’ll use your clinical expertise to assess medication therapies, identify potential risks, and help patients achieve better health outcomes.
The role combines inbound and outbound patient engagement with comprehensive medication reviews and individualized care planning.
You’ll collaborate within a specialty clinical team while working independently to deliver accurate, compassionate, and evidence-based guidance.
Your work will include reviewing prescriptions, evaluating drug interactions, and assessing dosage, directions, and treatment appropriateness.
Advanced communication technologies and digital resources will enable you to provide personalized medication education and ongoing support.

Accountabilities:
  • Conduct inbound and outbound telephone interactions with members to discuss medication therapy, treatment questions, side effects, and adverse events.
  • Assess and evaluate members’ health conditions with a particular focus on medication therapy and overall treatment effectiveness.
  • Review prescriptions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness.
  • Identify and evaluate potential drug-drug interactions and other medication-related risks.
  • Assess disease state, dosage, directions, and overall therapy to support safe and effective medication use.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive care plans based on individual patient needs.
  • Monitor patient progress through regular assessments and adjust recommendations or care plans when appropriate.
  • Provide clear, accurate medication education using advanced telecommunication systems and available clinical resources.
  • Use electronic references, clinical guidelines, and other evidence-based resources to support professional decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation while working across multiple systems and platforms.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to department goals while also managing responsibilities independently.
  • Communicate clinical information clearly and professionally in both verbal and written formats.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy, productivity, and attention to detail in a high-volume remote environment.
  • Support compliance with applicable pharmacy, clinical, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Active, unrestricted pharmacist license from the Board of Pharmacy in Florida, Texas, Ohio, or Arizona, with no disciplinary restrictions or actions.
  • At least 3 years of pharmacist experience in a high-volume retail, hospital, mail-order, or comparable pharmacy practice environment.
  • Ability to participate in applicable federal prescription programs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote.
  • Ability to navigate multiple technology systems and platforms and troubleshoot or resolve general technical issues while working remotely.
  • Strong clinical judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use available resources to make sound professional decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly when explaining medication-related information to patients.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy and productivity in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative clinical team.
  • Patient-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to delivering compassionate, professional service.
  • Board certification in Oncology, Specialty, Geriatric, Pharmacotherapy, or Ambulatory Care is preferred.
  • Previous specialty pharmacy experience is an advantage.
  • Experience with Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) is preferred.
  • Previous Commercial, Medicare, or Medicaid experience is beneficial.
  • Previous clinical experience in managed care is a plus.
  • Spanish-language proficiency is preferred.

  • Work schedule: Typically a 40-hour work week, with schedules discussed during the interview; the role includes weekday coverage, rotating Friday closing responsibilities, and rotating Saturday coverage.
  • Additional scheduling requirements: Holiday rotation and mandatory overtime may occasionally be required based on business needs.
  • Remote-work support: Employees must maintain a reliable internet connection with minimum download speeds of 25 Mbps and upload speeds of 10 Mbps, along with a dedicated workspace suitable for protecting confidential patient information.
  • Location flexibility: Remote work is available to candidates residing in Ohio, Florida, Texas, or Arizona.
  • Occasional travel: Limited travel for training or meetings may be required.
