The Opportunity

Sprout is looking for knowledgeable, enthusiastic and entertaining chefs, cooks and food educators to join our Cooking School team as Cooking School Demonstrators.

The role

• Contribute to enjoyable, delicious and memorable cooking class experiences by sharing your enthusiasm, knowledge and sense of fun

• Lead cooking classes, demonstrating comfort in front of a crowd. This won't happen from day one — we provide training and a support pathway

• Help us develop dynamic and exciting food education experiences by sharing feedback and ideas

• Prepare for classes by getting ingredients ready, knowing the recipes and tips inside out, and setting up our kitchens for guests

• Guide and support our cooking school assistants

• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, and be a role model in doing so

• Uphold the highest hygiene standards and safe work practices, and make sure everyone in the team does the same

• Manage all dietary requirements respectfully and thoroughly

• Run off-site cooking classes when required, including packing and unpacking equipment and ingredients

• Bright, positive people with an exceptional ability to build rapport — with guests at our corporate and public classes, and with children at our school holiday classes

• A love of food and of creating welcoming, fun and safe learning environments

• Comfort standing in front of a crowd and leading the way

• Exceptional attention to detail — you don't miss a thing. We focus on hygiene, safe work practices and dietary management so guests and employees enjoy a safe and incident-free environment

• Loads of energy and enthusiasm, and a love of being busy in a fast-paced environment

Experience and qualifications

Any of the following:

• Experienced cooks

• Qualified chefs

• Teachers, particularly with expertise in food technology or equivalent

• Nutrition or dietetics professionals

Certifications

Hold, or be willing to obtain:

• South Australian Working with Children Check

• Catholic Schools clearance

• Responsible Service of Alcohol

• RRHAN-EC Fundamentals certificate

• RRHAN-EC Masterclass certificate

Where and when

Approximately 10–20 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday.
Primary place of work: Sprout Cooking School, 89 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Hilton.
