About the Opportunity

Southern Energy Management (SEM) is looking for a Business Development Representative to lead sales and account development for our Single Family Building Performance team in our Coastal Carolinas division.

This is a relationship-driven sales and business development role focused on both winning new business and growing existing builder relationships across the Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, and Charleston markets.

The Business Development Representative will work closely with our field operations, sales, and marketing teams to build and maintain strong relationships with builders, developers, trades, and other industry partners. This person will also help refine our sales processes, maintain accurate CRM data, support client education and training, and create content that helps grow our Builder Energy Services channel.

The ideal candidate is flexible, highly organized, relationship-oriented, eager to learn, and willing to take ownership and find solutions when challenges arise. They are equally comfortable developing a new prospect from the first conversation as they are deepening a relationship with a long-standing client.

What You'll Do

Business Development & Sales

  • Lead builder sales efforts across the Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, and Charleston markets
  • Develop and execute strategies to win new builder and trade accounts
  • Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned territory
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective clients and opportunities
  • Conduct prospecting, sales meetings, presentations, and follow-up with prospective clients
  • Grow existing accounts by identifying opportunities to expand services and deepen client relationships
  • Develop a strong understanding of each client's business, needs, challenges, and upcoming projects
  • Work toward established sales, revenue, and business-development goals
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop solutions that create value for our customers
  • Represent SEM professionally within the residential construction and building-performance communities

Account & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary account manager for assigned builder and trade accounts
  • Build and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with builders, developers, trades, and other industry partners
  • Regularly engage existing clients to understand their needs and identify opportunities for growth
  • Coordinate closely with field teams to ensure a positive client experience and successful project execution
  • Help resolve client concerns and proactively address potential issues
  • Become a trusted resource and strategic partner to SEM's builder clients

CRM & Sales Process

  • Maintain accurate and timely customer, contact, opportunity, and activity information in our CRM
  • Manage and continuously improve lead-generation, prospecting, and outreach processes
  • Track sales activity, pipeline development, account growth, and other key sales metrics
  • Use CRM data to prioritize opportunities, improve follow-up, and support sales forecasting
  • Contribute ideas to continually improve SEM's sales process and customer experience

Training, Events & Marketing

  • Complete field trainings and client education to support our builder and trade partners
  • Support industry events, builder meetings, trainings, and other relationship-building activities
  • Create content and provide subject-matter input to support marketing campaigns and Builder Energy Services
  • Work with the marketing team to develop content that supports lead generation and customer engagement
  • Contribute ideas and seek solutions when challenges arise

Passion for Leading the Change

A genuine interest in sustainable energy, high-performance homes, and SEM's mission of using business as a force for good.

Technical & Data Skills

Comfortable learning and using technology and business software. Experience with Salesforce, HubSpot, Data Studio/Looker Studio, or similar platforms is preferred. Fast and accurate data entry is important, as you'll be responsible for maintaining information that supports sales, operations, and marketing.
