DHL is seeking a Shop Production Assistant to prepare products and perform key pre-production tasks to help ensure high-quality print results. This role fits within our new customization operation supporting a major consumer-products brand. This is a hands-on role focused on product preparation, quality inspection, and maintaining an efficient production workflow.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a production environment, and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
Shop Production Assistant
Schedule: First (1st) Shift, Monday - Thursday: 5:00am - 3:30pm. Overtime required as needed.
Pay: $20.35 / hour
What You'll Do:
- Unpack, count, stage and prepare products for UV printing and laser production
- Clean and inspect product surfaces for defects, flatness, and print readiness
- Apply adhesion promoter according to established procedures to ensure proper UV ink bonding
- Perform quality inspections throughout production, identifying defects and ensuring products meet quality standards
- Inspect finished products for accuracy, clarity, alignment, and quality before repackaging
- Perform sample tests, identify quality issues, and communicate defects or inconsistencies
- Perform basic machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized, and safe production area while following PPE and workplace safety guidelines
Our Ideal Candidate Has:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with industrial printers, UV flatbed printers, or related production equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and follow technical specifications
- Basic computer literacy to operate printer software and job management systems
- Background in digital printing, signage, packaging, or manufacturing, desirable
- Knowledge of UV ink systems, color calibration, RIP software, and print profiles, desirable

Shop Production Assistant
Role Purpose:
Shop Production Assistant is responsible for preparing products for UV printing and laser operation. Performing key pre-production tasks that ensure high-quality print results and smooth workflow across all workstations. This role involves product handling, surface cleaning, quality inspection, adhesion preparation, and maintaining efficient product flow throughout the production area.
Key Accountabilities:
- Degut products from cartons, ensuring items are unpacked safely, accurately counted, and staged for processing.
- Clean product surfaces using alcohol to remove dust, oils, or contaminants that may affect print quality.
- Inspect product surfaces, with a focus on verifying the flatness and suitability of the top printing surface.
- General inspection of the products for defects or missing components
- Inspecting products for flatness using measuring tools
- Apply adhesion promoter according to established procedures to ensure optimal ink bonding during the UV printing process.
- Verify that all treated products meet quality standards before they enter the print workflow.
- Document and report any non-conforming products, defects, or irregularities.
- Inspect finished products for accuracy, clarity, alignment, and overall quality.
- Repackages products upon completion of product inspection
- Identify and report defects, inconsistencies, or product packaging damage.
- Perform sample tests to validate settings before full production runs.
- Maintain high standards for product appearance and customer branding requirements.
- Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance.
- Safely handle lasers and follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements.
- Ensure the work area remains organized, hazard-free, and compliant with safety guidelines.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Experience with industrial printers, UV flatbed printers, or related production equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read technical specifications.
- Basic computer literacy for operating printer software and job management systems.
- Experience operating high throw ultraviolent flatbed inkjet printer.
- Intermediate PC skills on Outlook, Word, Excel
