Summary
ValSource is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Field Safety Representative to join our team on a full-time basis at our client’s site in Elkton, VA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support a long-term Safety Leadership Program initiative within the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors. The ideal candidate will play a key role in fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring the well-being of all personnel, and supporting various projects with a focus on safety excellence.
As Construction Safety Field Representative, you will provide owner safety oversight during construction, commissioning, qualification, and validation. You will support high-risk work planning, contractor performance, incident investigations, and corrective action closure.
This is an onsite role in Elkton, VA and is ideal for a hands-on safety professional with demonstrated safety leadership experience who can coach contractors, build trust, and help drive Zero Harm.
Responsibilities
- Implement safety programs aligned with owner requirements, applicable client standards, and OSHA/state regulations.
- Coach contractors, safety professionals, and project teams as a visible field safety resource.
- Review JSAs, SPAs, permits, and high-risk work plans for clear hazards and controls.
- Conduct weekly jobsite inspections and verify corrective action closure.
- Lead or support incident investigations, RCA, CAPA development, and closure tracking.
- Monitor KPIs, near misses, leading indicators, and contractor safety performance.
- Support onboarding, orientations, safety reviews, Tier meetings, peer audits, and pre-bid/pre-award discussions.
- Build strong field relationships and support MOC/safety planning during commissioning and qualification.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in Spanish is required.
- Local candidates only / no per diem or travel expenses available.
- 5+ years of construction safety management experience, including contractor oversight.
- OSHA 510 required; OSHA 500 preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and relevant state/local construction safety regulations.
- Experience with incident investigations, RCA, CAPA, and corrective action closure.
- Ability to coach, influence, and communicate with field teams and leadership.
- Microsoft Office proficiency; basic data analysis preferred.
- Ability to work onsite full-time in Elkton, VA and stop unsafe work when needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in safety, construction management, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience with behavior-based safety, near-miss reporting, contractor scorecards, or recognition programs.
Full-time onsite role in an active construction environment.
Requires regular field presence, including walking jobsites, climbing ladders/stairs, and supporting field operations.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
