We are seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to add to our dynamic team! The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting the mental health and well-being of patients within a specialized healthcare setting. This position involves direct patient care, assisting with clinical assessments, and implementing individualized treatment plans under the supervision of licensed professionals. The technician is responsible for managing crisis situations effectively, ensuring patient safety, and facilitating therapeutic interventions tailored to individuals with serious emotional disturbances (SED).
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to patients with mental health needs, including those with serious emotional disturbances (SED)
- Assist in conducting clinical assessments and participate in the development and implementation of individualized treatment and discharge plans
- Manage crisis situations through timely intervention and de-escalation techniques to ensure patient and staff safety
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or higher in a related field preferred
- Certification or training in behavioral health, crisis intervention, or related area
- Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, preferably in a clinical or residential setting
- Ability to maintain detailed clinical documentation and follow established protocols
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically with serious emotional disturbances (SED) populations
- Formal training or certification in crisis management and clinical assessments
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare documentation software
- Additional education or certification in mental health or behavioral health fields
- Experience working in women’s health or specialized behavioral health facilities
