This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Especialista em Engenharia de Plataforma de Dados based in Brazil.

This is a fully remote opportunity focused on evolving and sustaining a modern data platform at scale.
You will combine database architecture, administration, cloud computing, automation, and platform engineering.
The role will help modernize data infrastructure while establishing standards for reliability, security, and performance.
You will drive automation through Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, GitOps, and self-service capabilities.
Your work will improve developer experience by reducing manual operations and increasing platform autonomy.
You will collaborate closely with Platform, Development, Infrastructure, Security, and Architecture teams.
The environment includes managed cloud databases as well as containerized and Kubernetes-based workloads.

• Define and evolve technical and architectural standards for relational and non-relational databases across the organization.

• Administer and support databases across production, staging, and development environments.

• Advise development and architecture teams on the most appropriate persistence technologies for different workloads.

• Establish best practices for databases, schemas, users, roles, permissions, indexes, and other database objects.

• Design and implement high-availability, replication, failover, backup, restoration, and disaster-recovery strategies.

• Define operational approaches for database monitoring, performance, capacity, scalability, backup, restoration, and recovery.

• Support load testing, capacity planning, and scalability analysis for data solutions.

• Establish observability standards covering database metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerts.

• Support database workloads running on public cloud platforms, containers, and Kubernetes, including stateful workloads, persistence, storage, scalability, and availability.

• Automate database provisioning, configuration, and operations using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and GitOps, contributing to Database as a Service and self-service capabilities.

• Support database migration and modernization initiatives across on-premises, cloud, and containerized environments.

• Implement database security practices covering encryption, access segregation, credential management, auditing, and least-privilege principles.

• Produce technical documentation, architectural standards, runbooks, and operational procedures.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database incidents involving availability, performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the data architecture and platform.

• Collaborate continuously with Platform, Development, Infrastructure, Security, and Architecture teams.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Postgraduate degree or specialization in Cloud Computing, Databases, Software Architecture, or a related area is desirable.

• Strong professional experience administering databases in production environments.

• Advanced knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, plus experience with MySQL, SQL Server, or equivalent technologies.

• Strong SQL knowledge, including advanced queries, indexing, execution plans, and performance optimization.

• Experience with database architecture, replication, high availability, failover, backup, restoration, disaster recovery, and Point-in-Time Recovery.

• Knowledge of defining and applying RPO and RTO strategies.

• Experience with database performance analysis, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and scalability.

• Experience with managed database services from public cloud providers, particularly AWS and Azure.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or equivalent tools.

• Experience or strong knowledge of containers and Kubernetes, including stateful workloads, persistence, volumes, storage classes, secrets, and high availability.

• Knowledge of CI/CD automation and GitOps practices.

• Knowledge or experience with Platform Engineering and Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs).

• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or equivalent solutions.

• Knowledge of database security practices, including encryption, access control, auditing, and credential management.

• Scripting or programming experience for automation using Python, Shell Script, or equivalent languages.

• Experience with database migration and modernization initiatives.

• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex availability, performance, and scalability issues.

• Ability to analyze application requirements and recommend appropriate persistence architectures.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

• Experience with platform automation, self-service, Database as a Service (DBaaS), or developer experience initiatives is advantageous.
