Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. has a contingent job opportunity for a full-time Metrology Calibration (METCAL) Technician in Rota, Spain.

Summary: The Metrology Calibration Technician FDRMC DET Rota Point of Contact to collaborate directly with calibration community including ships force (S/F) calibration coordinators and respective leaders, calibration laboratories (Navy, NATO, CONUS, OCONUS, Spanish or private), TYCOM, NSWC Corona, etc. in support of ships' calibration readiness.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Perform administrative and technical coordination; conduct audits; perform liaison functions related to fleet interface with the COMNAVSEASYSCOM Metrology Calibration (METCAL) Program and METCAL Auditing Support.

• Assists FDRMC with the operation and maintenance of Navy Metrology Data Systems. Distributes METCAL technical publications to all Navy and Marine Corps calibration laboratories and other METCAL customers.

• Manages the METCAL website.

• Evaluates measurement and calibration requirements in support of all Navy System Commands (SYSCOMs) and acquisition program offices for domestic and foreign military support.

• Assists FDRMC with documentation and sustains Navy calibration support requirements including test parameters, required calibration equipment, support documentation, servicing intervals, logistic support levels, and calibration training requirements.

• Provides technical guidance and review of Navy activities and contractors in the development of Integrated Logistics Support Plans and Life-Cycle Support Planning.

• Provide guidance and/or assistance to S/F to ensure an efficient calibration process is being accomplished in order to minimize the turnaround time of test equipment. Act as liaison to S/F and METCAL service providers to resolve calibration issues.

• Perform the responsibilities of METCAL Coordinator (MC) for FDRMC Det Rota in support of test equipment calibration, repairs, shipping, tracking and inventory.

• Serve as an instructor for Shipboard Gauge Calibration Program (SGCP) for S/F in Rota, Spain; Manama, Bahrain, AAMDS Romania and AA Poland. Maintain and store classroom tools and equipment.

• Maintain knowledge in utilizing the METCAL Calibration Management System (MCMS) program for test equipment data creation and management.

• Manage the Regional Loan Pool (RLP) program including S/F issuance and collection of equipment, storage, inventory, shipments out for calibration, tracking and maintenance of MCMS records.

• Communicate METCAL issues and concerns to key stakeholders during key events such as the annual maintenance summit.

• Assist in planning and execution in the establishment of Navy calibration capabilities in Rota, if additional capabilities are approved, in accordance with Calibration Lab Facility Requirements (NAVAIR 17-35FR-06) - this may include the following: Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M), Events Cost & Timelines and review of Statement of Work (SOW), Design Request for Proposal (RFP) and Fixed Furniture & Equipment (FF&E).

Minimum Qualifications:

• High Diploma or equivalent

• At least 5 years of related experience including a minimum of 3 years of full time, hands-on experience in the accomplishment of Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA), Assessment and Logistical Support of U.S. Navy ships’ Information Technology Systems.

• Minimum of two (2) years general experience in calibration administration.

• Minimum of two (2) years specialized experience tracking, maintaining, and updating METBENCH Calibration Management System (MCMS).

• Must possess or ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance

• Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.

• A thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

• A thorough working knowledge of the regulations, procedures and references including 4734.1B, ST700-AM-GYD-010 and ST700-AM-PRO-010.

• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

ADA/Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.

• Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.

• Able to perform other duties as required, which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.

• May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator.

• Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.

• Tasks performed involve 40% work in an office environment and 60% in a shipboard environment which may include working aloft, or in confined or secure spaces.

• Job may require bending, stooping, lifting, and will be in an environment of low and high temperatures.
