Job Description

Product Manager, Data Orchestration

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Product Manager, Data Orchestration based in Spain.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of data orchestration within a fast-growing, open-source technology environment. You will own the product lifecycle across the data orchestration domain, from identifying customer problems to defining solutions and delivering impactful releases. You will work closely with data engineers, analytics engineers, data platform teams, developers, and senior product and technology leaders. The role focuses on making data pipelines easier to build, operate, monitor, and scale across modern data ecosystems. You will help evolve data-aware orchestration, deepen integrations with leading data tools, and make migrations from legacy orchestrators more seamless. With a pragmatic, low-process approach, you will have significant autonomy to make product decisions and move quickly from ideas to customer value.

Accountabilities
  • Own the full product lifecycle for data orchestration, from understanding customer and user needs through technical specifications, prototyping, development, QA, documentation, and release.
  • Define and advance data-aware orchestration capabilities, incorporating concepts such as data lineage, freshness, quality, and dataset dependencies into workflow orchestration.
  • Expand integrations across the modern data stack, including technologies such as dbt, Fivetran, Airbyte, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Kafka, and a broader plugin ecosystem.
  • Develop clear migration paths, product experiences, and documentation for teams moving from Airflow and other workflow orchestration platforms.
  • Partner with product and technology leadership to shape and scope features for regular release cycles while balancing customer value, simplicity, technical feasibility, and long-term sustainability.
  • Coordinate development progress and ensure features are delivered to a high standard, thoroughly tested, documented, and ready for release.
  • Continuously improve the product using customer feedback, product usage data, and input from the open-source community.
Requirements
  • Hands-on, startup-minded product management experience, with the ability to operate effectively in an environment with minimal process and structure.
  • Strong practical knowledge of the data ecosystem, including experience building or managing data pipelines and hands-on familiarity with tools such as dbt, Fivetran, Airbyte, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration platforms such as Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or Kestra, with a solid understanding of scheduling, backfills, retries, dependencies, and data workflows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical specifications, articulate product decisions, and create high-quality documentation.
  • A strong ownership mentality, with the ability to make informed decisions, iterate quickly, incorporate feedback, and proactively drive initiatives forward.
  • Familiarity with open-source development and comfort contributing to or discussing product changes in public repositories and technical communities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.
  • Previous experience as a data engineer or analytics engineer is a strong advantage, as is experience migrating teams from Airflow or another orchestration platform.
  • Experience in B2B software, SaaS, platform-oriented products, or open-source companies is beneficial, as is familiarity with data engineering communities and technology adoption patterns.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Equity participation.
  • Health insurance.
  • Significant ownership and autonomy within a globally distributed, highly technical team.
  • Direct exposure to product strategy and broader business priorities.
  • The opportunity to work on a product supporting mission-critical workloads for more than 10,000 organizations worldwide.
  • The chance to contribute to a growing open-source ecosystem and work closely with a global technical community.
