General Overview: The Box Office Associate’s primary responsibility is to maintain and improve the daily?operations?of the box office, including providing exemplary customer service to patrons on the phone and at performances. Candidates should have a basic knowledge of data management systems and be comfortable in a forward-facing role.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Box Office:

  • Guarantee a high-quality patron experience by ensuring accurate and efficient operation of all box office functions
  • Answer all box office calls; respond to patron inquiries and requests
  • Process and fulfill patron ticket orders
  • Input holds and comps into AudienceView (ticketing software)
  • Update and maintain customer contact information to meet postal and internal addressing standards
  • Process box office sales during events
  • Reconcile cash drawer and sales receipts from AudienceView
  • Provide box office reports for each performance to the Patron Services Coordinator.

Working Hours: This position is approximately 20 hours per week. Working hours are consecutive and include evenings and weekends. This is an in-person, non-remote role. Shifts are based on production schedules and are generally expected to be 3:00p-8:30p Thursdays – Saturdays and 12:30a-3:30p on Sundays. However, some variation will occur. The Patron Services Coordinator will provide a calendar outlining expected needs with 4-6 weeks of advance notice. Outside engagements should be scheduled around the NHT work calendar. The Box Office Associate may turn down a maximum of three requested shifts during a calendar year; any more than three will result in re-evaluation.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Exemplary customer service skills and a passion for the arts
  • Experience in the hospitality industry and/or frontline sales
  • Experience creating and running reports
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Recent experience with AudienceView or other ticketing software preferred

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Self-starter with a high degree of personal motivation, self-direction and detail-orientation
  • Excellent time management skills?with the ability to multitask and reprioritize
  • Creative problem-solving skills; ability to quickly identify issues and make recommendations
  • Task-oriented and resourceful
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to communicate with a broad range of individuals

  • The employee must be able to understand, interpret and analyze data, solve problems, concentrate, research, use available technological resources and systems (e.g. computer programs), multi-task, prioritize, and meet multiple individuals to complete essential tasks.
  • An employee in this position is frequently required to move throughout the workplace, sit, handle office materials and equipment, move and transport materials weighing up to 25 pounds, communicate effectively, and review printed and electronic documents.
