Job Title: Incoming Grading QC

Report To: Incoming Grading Lead QC
Payrate: $17.00 - $17.50
Working Hours: 1st Shift (4:30am-1:00pm) & 2nd Shift (1:30pm-10:00pm), August - December
Work Location: Plant – HQ 2288 Geer Road Hughson
The Incoming Grading QC Technician is responsible for accurately grading incoming walnut samples according to company procedures. Responsibilities include collecting product samples, sizing, cracking, peeling, grading by color and defects, photographing samples, recording weights, calculating finished yields, and maintaining accurate grading records. The Incoming Grading QC Technician is responsible for promptly notifying the Incoming Grading Lead QC of any quality concerns, including but not limited to high defects, low yields, adhering hulls, or other nonconforming conditions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Collect product samples for grading.
• Log samples into Grower Direct Nut logs for future tracking.
• Weigh walnuts in-shell.
• Separate walnuts by size and take clear photographs of each sample.
• Weigh individual graded products and accurately record grading data.
• Log and file retention samples according to company procedures.
• Keep samples organized and in proper order for grading.
• Ensure samples placed in appropriate piles to prevent double grading.
• Ensure all tests performed accurately and all data recorded accurately.
• Use approved color charts for all color determinations.
• Take clear photographs of samples.
• Keep the work area clean and organized; assist with cleanup as needed.
• Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP, BRC, and Audit requirements.
• Follows and ensures adherence to established Grower Direct Nut Co., local, state, and federal regulations and requirements as well as food safety, sanitation, food production and nutritional guidelines.
• Ensure adherence to company procedures, standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Requirements:PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Will frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, taste and smell.
- Will occasionally sit and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.
- Must use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination, simultaneously.
- Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently.
- Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 30 pounds frequently.
- Must lift with arms up to floor to waist, waist to shoulder 30 pounds.
- Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend, up to 12 hrs.
- Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently (15 flexion/minute).
- Use of keyboard and mouse for extended periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- May work near moving mechanical parts.
- May work around wet or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and/or risk of vibration.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
1. Ability to work as part of a team.
2. Ability to perform basic math functions.
3. Working knowledge of GMPs, Food Safety and HACCP Systems.
4. Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
5. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and Spanish.
6. Accurately complete documents and paperwork that is related to the job.
7. Punctual and good attendance is necessary.
