Job Description

Sr. Program Strategy and Operations Director

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Program Strategy and Operations Director based in United States.

This role sits at the intersection of program leadership, scientific strategy, and operational execution within a fast-paced biotech environment. It serves as the central coordination point for high-priority therapeutic programs, translating complex inputs from clinical, regulatory, translational, and CMC teams into clear, actionable decisions for leadership. You will act as a strategic partner to program owners, helping shape critical choices that influence asset direction, speed, and success. The position combines elements of COO-level program ownership with hands-on analytical and communication responsibilities. It requires someone who can move fluidly between high-level strategy and detailed execution. The environment is highly dynamic, innovation-driven, and deeply cross-functional, with direct exposure to executive and board-level decision-making.

Accountabilities:
  • Drive end-to-end program strategy and execution for a high-priority therapeutic asset, ensuring alignment across all functional teams
  • Synthesize scientific, clinical, regulatory, and operational inputs into clear, decision-ready insights for executive leadership
  • Act as a strategic partner to program leadership, anticipating risks, inflection points, and scenario-based outcomes
  • Coordinate cross-functional execution across clinical, translational, regulatory, CMC, and external partners such as CROs
  • Own program tracking, dashboards, and reporting to ensure transparency, accountability, and delivery against milestones
  • Prepare high-quality executive materials including board updates, investor briefings, and decision memos
  • Identify and remove operational blockers while ensuring efficient execution across interdependent workstreams
  • Contribute to organizational learning by documenting best practices, benchmarks, and program insights
  • Leverage AI and digital tools to improve workflow efficiency, analysis, and decision-making speed
Requirements:
  • Background in biotech, pharma, life sciences program management, strategy, consulting, or operations
  • Strong experience working across cross-functional drug development or similarly complex technical environments
  • Ability to synthesize complex scientific and operational information into clear strategic recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to senior leadership and executive stakeholders
  • Strong analytical thinking with ability to model scenarios and support data-driven decisions
  • High comfort working in ambiguity with a bias toward action and execution
  • Experience collaborating across clinical, regulatory, translational, and CMC functions preferred
  • Familiarity with AI and digital tools as productivity and decision-support enhancers
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-moving environments
  • Emotional intelligence, humility, and ability to influence without direct authority
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package aligned with senior leadership responsibilities
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage with high employer contribution
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Flexible PTO policy supporting work-life balance
  • Exposure to cutting-edge drug discovery programs and clinical-stage innovation
  • High-impact role with direct influence on therapeutic asset strategy and execution
  • Collaborative, mission-driven environment focused on scientific and clinical advancement
  • Opportunities for professional growth in biotech strategy and operations leadership
