Position Status: This position is contingent upon contract award and successful contract transition. Employment is also contingent upon the candidate's ability to satisfy all customer, contract, and security clearance requirements.
If awarded, this position is expected to be covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Compensation, benefits, and working conditions for covered positions will be administered in accordance with the applicable agreement and contract requirements.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Master Electrician is responsible for overseeing the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment supporting a complex federal facility. This position provides technical leadership and guidance for electrical operations, ensures compliance with applicable codes and safety standards, and supports the reliable operation of facility infrastructure. The Master Electrician serves as a subject matter expert for electrical systems and works closely with management, maintenance personnel, and Government stakeholders to support mission readiness and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of electrical systems and equipment.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to electricians and maintenance personnel.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and develop effective corrective actions.
- Ensure electrical work is performed in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), contract requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and completed work to verify quality and compliance.
- Support preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and reliability programs.
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, technical manuals, and project documentation.
- Coordinate electrical maintenance activities with operations, engineering, and other support personnel.
- Support facility upgrades, renovations, equipment installations, and infrastructure improvement projects.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and technical documentation.
- Assist with outage planning, emergency response activities, and restoration efforts.
- Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with all applicable safety requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Master Electrician license issued by a state or jurisdiction recognized by the contract.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial, industrial, or institutional electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable safety regulations.
- Experience interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred:
- Experience supporting federal government facilities contracts.
- Supervisory or lead electrician experience.
- Experience supporting mission-critical, industrial, campus-style, or training facilities.
- OSHA 10/30.
- Experience with emergency power systems, generators, switchgear, etc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments, including office buildings, maintenance areas, utility spaces, electrical rooms, rooftops, construction areas, and industrial settings. The incumbent must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, climb stairs and ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces as required. The position frequently requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work may involve exposure to electrical hazards, moving mechanical equipment, varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and other operational environments. The ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all applicable safety procedures is required. Occasional evening, weekend, on-call, or extended work hours may be necessary to support operational requirements, outages, emergency response activities, or contract needs.

The compensation range provided for this position is intended as a general guideline. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, certifications, geographic location, market conditions, and business needs, consistent with applicable laws and contract requirements.

Positions covered by the Service Contract Act (SCA), Davis-Bacon Act (DBA), Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), or other applicable contract requirements will be administered in accordance with those requirements. Compensation, benefits, and work rules for positions covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement will be governed by the applicable agreement.
