Job Description

Staff Fullstack Engineer (Ruby/Vue.js) Monetization Engineering: Purchase

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Fullstack Engineer (Ruby/Vue.js) Monetization Engineering: Purchase based in the United States.

This is a Staff-level engineering opportunity focused on building and evolving the systems that power a modern, end-to-end purchase experience. You will work across frontend and backend technologies to create intuitive purchasing interfaces and reliable services that support transactions, billing, and customer relationship workflows. The role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership, architecture ownership, and mentorship across a high-impact product area. You will partner closely with Product, Design, Billing, Sales, Support, and Engineering teams to turn complex requirements into resilient and scalable solutions. Because your work directly influences revenue and involves sensitive customer and financial information, reliability, security, correctness, and safe delivery are critical. You’ll help unify purchasing experiences, improve self-service capabilities, and strengthen integrations with downstream systems. This is an ideal role for a senior engineer who wants to shape technical direction while remaining deeply involved in building and operating production software.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, build, test, deploy, and operate fullstack features across the customer purchase journey using frontend and backend technologies, including Ruby on Rails and Vue.js.
  • Own and lead the technical design of new purchasing capabilities and contribute to the long-term architecture of a unified purchase experience.
  • Partner with Product and Design to translate purchasing requirements and customer needs into resilient, scalable, accessible, and well-tested technical solutions.
  • Develop and scale subscription and purchasing workflows that support purchases, upgrades, add-ons, promotional offers, and flexible customer spending models.
  • Ensure purchasing systems integrate accurately, securely, and reliably with downstream billing, CRM, and other business-critical platforms.
  • Establish and uphold engineering standards for code quality, testing, observability, deployment practices, monitoring, and rollout safety.
  • Mentor engineers, participate in design reviews, and provide thoughtful and constructive feedback on code and technical approaches.
  • Identify and reduce technical debt, architectural risks, and reliability challenges within the purchase experience.
  • Use iterative delivery practices to safely introduce changes while minimizing risk to customers, revenue, and business operations.
  • Participate in incident response and troubleshooting for purchase-related production issues, helping drive timely resolution and long-term improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve customer conversion, purchasing clarity, accessibility, and overall experience.
Requirements:
  • Significant professional fullstack software engineering experience across frontend and backend systems, with strong proficiency in technologies such as Ruby on Rails and Vue.js.
  • Proven experience operating at a Staff or equivalent senior technical level, setting technical direction and delivering complex, business-critical systems across teams or functional areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to own architecture and technical strategy while remaining hands-on with implementation, testing, deployment, and production operations.
  • Experience building or maintaining transactional, checkout, billing, ecommerce, subscription, or other revenue-critical systems is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, system design, architecture, reliability, testing, observability, and safe production delivery.
  • A strong bias toward incremental and controlled delivery, particularly when working on systems with direct revenue and customer impact.
  • Ability to identify complex technical and organizational problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and develop pragmatic solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical and architectural concepts to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership through influence, mentorship, architecture, design reviews, and direct contribution rather than relying solely on formal management authority.
  • Professional proficiency in written and verbal English and the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote, largely asynchronous environment.
  • Familiarity with third-party billing or CRM platforms such as Zuora, Salesforce, or Stripe is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Product, Design, Billing, Sales, Support, Data, and Engineering functions.
  • Alignment with a values-driven, inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance engineering culture.
Benefits:
  • Base salary range of $152,800–$259,200 USD for eligible United States locations.
  • Remote work environment with flexibility designed for distributed collaboration.
  • Medical and broader health and well-being benefits.
  • Flexible Paid Time Off.
  • Equity compensation and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Retirement and financial wellness benefits.
  • Growth and Development Fund to support ongoing professional learning.
  • Parental leave and family-support benefits.
  • Team Member Resource Groups supporting an inclusive and connected workplace.
  • Opportunities to work on high-impact monetization, purchasing, billing, and software engineering initiatives.
  • Significant technical ownership and the opportunity to influence architecture and long-term engineering strategy.
  • Mentorship and career development opportunities within a globally distributed engineering organization.
  • Inclusive interview experience with reasonable accommodations available throughout the recruitment process.
  • Encouragement to apply even if you do not meet every listed qualification, with candidates assessed based on their overall skills and experience.
