Position Summary

The Infant & Preschool Support Teacher provides flexible support throughout the school by assisting in infant and preschool classrooms as needed. This position plays a vital role in maintaining high-quality care by covering staff breaks, supporting classroom routines, maintaining teacher-child ratios, substituting for absent teachers, and assisting with daily transitions. The ideal candidate enjoys variety, adapts quickly to changing needs, and builds positive relationships with children, families, and fellow educators.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide nurturing, responsive care to children from infancy through TK.
  • Cover staff breaks and lunches while maintaining continuity of care.
  • Substitute in classrooms as needed to maintain licensing ratios and ensure program quality.
  • Support teachers with daily routines, including meals, diapering, toileting, naps, transitions, and outdoor play.
  • Help create safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor learning environments.
  • Foster children's social-emotional development through positive guidance and respectful interactions.
  • Build meaningful relationships with children while promoting independence, confidence, and curiosity.
  • Collaborate with teaching teams to maintain consistent classroom expectations and routines.
  • Assist with implementing authentic, play-based, multi-sensory learning experiences that reflect children's interests.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and eco-healthy classroom environments.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with families, coworkers, and leadership.
  • Follow all Bright Life Playschool policies, California Community Care Licensing regulations, and health and safety procedures.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the program.
Requirements:
  • Current health screening, TB clearance, and required immunizations upon hire.
  • Ability to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background check before employment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds multiple times throughout the day.
  • Must meet all California Community Care Licensing requirements for employment in a licensed childcare center.

Schedule & Availability
This position is scheduled for approximately 32–40 hours per week, depending on the needs of the program. Shifts are generally

8 hours in length and may be scheduled anytime between 7:45 AM and 5:30 PM. Flexibility to work within these hours is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in childcare, preschool, or another early childhood education setting.
  • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Experience working with infants and preschool-aged children is preferred.
