Medical Biller in ANCHORAGE, Alaska at Alaska Pain Specialists

Alaska Pain Specialists is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist. Candidate must have completed a formal billing course or have 2 years minimum experience in medical billing. Duties include working insurance denials and payment posting. We are looking for a professional with great customer service skills and excellent attendance. New grads welcome to apply! Pay DOE.

Skills:

Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy

Understanding of pain management CPT and ICD-10 coding

Insurance denial management

Medicare and commercial payer regulations

Attention to detail

Experience with Athena EMR system (preferred)

Strong communication and follow-up skills

Job Duties:

Reviewing provider documentation to ensure services are coded and billed correctly.

Entering and submitting insurance claims for office visits, procedures, injections, and surgeries.

Verifying the correct use of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.

Monitoring claim status and following up on unpaid or denied claims.

Appealing insurance denials and submitting corrected claims.

Posting insurance and patient payments.

Reviewing EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) and ERAs (Electronic Remittance Advice).

Identifying underpayments and requesting additional reimbursement when appropriate.

Managing patient balances and assisting with payment plans.

Ensuring compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, TriWest, VA, commercial insurance, and workers' compensation billing guidelines.

Reconciling daily charges and ensuring all encounters have been billed.

Schedule: 8:00-4:30pm

Monday to Friday

Option to work 4- 10 hour shifts.
