Job Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned.
- Leads and performs product and equipment verification activities.
- Prepares, reviews, and updates various production and quality documentation as part of the food safety system.
- Supports and coordinates the duties of Quality Technicians as needed.
- Samples and tests products and ingredients at specified stages in the production process.
- Conducts routine verification of production equipment hygienic design and sanitation standards.
- Analyzes gathered data against formulas, standards, and specifications to determine product quality and reliability.
- Records test data and applies statistical quality control procedures.
- Communicates evaluation results with production teams and identifies whether products are within control limits, nearing limits, trending negatively, or out of specification.
- Recommends updates or modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal product quality within equipment capabilities.
- Identifies non-conforming product, places product on hold, and manages retesting and disposition processes.
- Prepares graphs, charts, or inputs data into computer systems for further analysis.
- Ensures compliance with food safety standards and maintains GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) along with SQF (Safe Quality Food) requirements.
- Oversees and coordinates weekly, monthly, and quarterly verification activities.
- Acts as a quality resource and liaison between QA and production departments.
- Acts as a back-up quality technician in the event of absence or scheduled time off.
Qualifications:
- Relatable degree or minimum of 2 years of related experience
- Familiar with industrial food manufacturing or edible food production
- Ability to understand Quality Standard Operating Procedures and Sanitation Operating Procedures
- Understanding of FDA’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and knowledge of HACCP Allergen Risk Management
- Must be time oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment and work alone.
- Computer knowledge and data entry skills including Excel, Word, and Microsoft related programs.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner by gathering and analyzing information and develops alternative solutions using this information.
- Includes appropriate people in decision-making process, is willing to make final decisions and can support and explain reasoning for the decisions.
- Develops and implements workable plans; effectively communicates changes to the plans.
- Ability to stand for duration of shift and lift to 50 lbs.
- Able to meet productivity standards, have accuracy and work independently.
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
