Role Overview
We’re seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Archive and Dispatch Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our photo lab.
This behind-the-scenes role focuses on maintaining order, accuracy, and efficiency across storage, recycling, and shipping areas.
It’s ideal for someone with a background in warehouse, factory, or fulfilment work who takes pride in keeping things organised and running smoothly. This is not a customer-facing position and suits those who enjoy practical, methodical tasks in a small team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Archive & Storage Management
Organise, label, and maintain the deep storage archive of completed photo orders.
Ensure old orders are correctly stored, recycled, or disposed of according to lab protocols.
Dispatch & Order Fulfilment
Pack online orders with care and accuracy.
Print and apply shipping labels, prepare parcels for courier collection.
Recycle and repurpose packaging materials wherever possible.
Stock & Inventory
Assist with stocktaking, restocking shelves, and maintaining stock records.
Keep storage and retail backroom areas tidy, safe, and in good working order.
General Lab Support
Perform cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure workspaces remain organised.
Assist with other lab tasks as required (e.g., sorting film orders, packaging materials).
What We’re Looking For
Required Skills and Experience
Previous experience in warehousing, dispatch, factory work, or general operations.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures consistently.
Comfortable performing repetitive or manual tasks accurately and efficiently.
Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and pride in quality.
Desirable
Basic computer skills for managing shipping labels or order systems.
Experience with stock control or archiving tasks.
Interest in analogue photography (not required, but an appreciation for the work is welcome).
The position will commence at 2–4 days per week (approximately 6 hours per shift).
What We Offer
A stable casual position in a well-organised and friendly work environment.
On-the-job training in lab procedures and systems.
Opportunity to work with a small, supportive team passionate about craft and quality.
