JOB SUMMARY
-
The Hospital Base Transportation Coordinator is responsible for the safe and timely transport of patients to and from healthcare facilities, ensuring high standards of patient care and safety throughout the journey. Duties include operating the ambulance, assisting with patient transfers, maintaining vehicle readiness, and completing all required documentation. Also, will help in the Emergency Department as needed. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Indiana driver’s license (Class C or as required), a clean driving record, and current first aid and CPR certification. Previous experience in patient transport or ambulance driving is preferred. Physical ability to lift and assist patients, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to compassionate care are essential. REQUIREMENTS: * Clean driving record and ability to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
* Physical ability to assist with patient transfers, including lifting, carrying, and maneuvering patients and equipment as needed.
* Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.* The employee must be 21 or older to drive RMH vehicles and have a driving record that is eligible to meet the satisfactory driving record standard conducted during the background check to be eligible for the position.* The applicant's job offer is contingent on eligibility and if the applicant does not have a valid driver's license or has a driving record that falls at or below the criteria, the applicant will not be hired for positions where driving is an essential job function.

High school diploma or equivalent

Must hold certification from the Indiana State Emergency Medical Services Commission or valid Nursing License

Must have successfully completed an accredited Emergency Medical Technician program or accredited Paramedic Program or Nursing Degree

Must have successfully completed American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support, ACLS and PALS. If needed may complete in the first 90 days
-
Valid Indiana driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle

Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC) or equivalent training to drive

Experience-

A minimum of 1 years of previous Emergency Medical Services experience preferred

Minimum 1 years of experience driving similar vehicles (ambulance, van, or other large vehicles) is preferred

Frequent contact with various persons or groups within and outside of the hospital including employees, healthcare personnel, physicians, patients, volunteers, visitors and outside agency personnel
