QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST
Full Time, Days
JOB SUMMARY:
- Review and training staff in quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Interpret and implement quality assurance standards during meetings.
- Devise sampling procedures and directions for recording and reporting quality data.
- Document internal audits and other quality assurance activities.
- Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues pertaining to resident care.
- Collect and compile statistical quality data for infection control and fall prevention.
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system.
- Develop, recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities.
- Identify training needs and organize training interventions to meet quality standards.
- Coordinate and support on-site audits conducted by external providers.
- Evaluate audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Monitor risk management activities.
- Assure ongoing compliance with quality and DSS regulatory requirements for pending inspections.
- Review the implementation and efficiency of the E-mar medication System.
- Review proper utilization of outside vendors, their Virginia background checks, orientation, and participation with the ISP’s and risk meeting.
- Will sample check new employee files for DSS required information and date compliance.
- Must be able to work in a safe and alert manner
- Must be able to take ownership for associates' safety and the safety of the residents
- Must disclose any medication that might impair associates' ability to perform the job safely or competently.
- Leads by example exhibiting the community’s mission through servant leadership.
- Encourages teamwork and promotes company philosophy.
- Attends required community meetings and participates Life Enrichment activities when able.
- Completes all required courses in adherence with Healthcare Academy if applicable.
- Is prompt and able to perform the required duties of the position on a regular, predictable basis.
- Becomes familiar and understands how to report a missing person per Liberty policy.
- All associates are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all community residents.
- Performs other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- LPN, RN or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience with implementation of corrective action programs.
- One to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education, experience and staff management.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, QA applications and databases. Basic keyboarding skills required.
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
- Knowledge of current Federal and State laws pertaining to assisted living communities.
- Knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies of QA.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements.
- Must be dependable, flexible, and able to work and cooperate well with all nursing personnel, other departments and have understanding, patience, and tact in working with patients, families, doctors, and others.
- Must have ability to make decisions regarding nursing problems, realizing that errors and incompetence may have serious consequences for patients and /or staff.
- Must be able to teach, instruct and direct orientation, continuing education, in-service, nurse aide program as well as act as Clinical Supervisor as needed.
- Works as charge nurse, and /or supervisor as needed in nursing emergencies.
- Make suggestions toward improving patient care and/or working conditions.
- Documents concerns and/or suggestions and reports to Director of Nursing.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and ensure that the facility leaders are informed of appropriate issues; understand and comply with infection control, safety, and OSHA procedures and regulations
- Must read, know, and follow personnel, department and Facility policies and procedures and adhere to local, state, and federal requirements.
- Must wear approved uniform. Must have neat professional appearance at all times.
- Promotes and maintains the highest moral and professional standards while on duty.
