About This Position

Position Summary: Designs and delivers a specific massage therapy plan based upon physician referral and/or client needs.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Greets clients in a professional manner and assesses client needs related to massage therapy.
  • Discusses patient history with new patients, including skin disorders, and possible diseases/disorders that suggest massage may be harmful to patient or practitioner. Designs and delivers a specific massage therapy plan based upon physician referral and/or client needs.
  • Perform 30-60-minute quality massage sessions within therapist scope of training and utilizing proper draping techniques.
  • Treats patients of all ages (e.g., infants, children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, elderly, ages 0–120 years), race, creed, gender, and disability without bias or prejudice. Provides that children under the age of 18 should be accompanied by responsible adult for treatment.
  • Practices ethical responsibility based on the cultural, ethnic and religious beliefs of the patients served and applicable law.
  • Complete accurate and legible client appointment notes.
  • Maintains patient care equipment and examination/treatment areas following guidelines for cleanliness, infection control and safety.
  • Assist patients in movement about clinic including assistance with care and transfers as needed.
  • Takes inventory of supplies and stocks supplies, equipment and linens, alerting Director of purchasing and equipment repair needs.
  • Other non-clinical and clinical tasks as assigned including, but not limited to, laundry, cleaning, patient screening and scheduling/check in.
  • Teamwork:

  • Works cooperatively with coworkers, providers, and management.
  • Shares knowledge and insights with co-workers in a constructive manner.
  • Willingly provides coverage to department, staying beyond scheduled ending time when clinic schedule demands it, volunteering to cover time off or unexpected absences, maintaining workflow in department without direct supervision.
  • Addresses conflicts with person directly before involving manager or uninvolved peers.
  • Is considerate of others with regard to taking breaks or meal periods, use of computer and telephone, and noise in department.
  • Policies and Procedures:

  • Knows and complies with policies and procedures as enumerated in the Orthopedic One Employee Handbook and policies and procedures documents.
  • Provides assistance and support to leadership in implementing policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Actively participates in training, and conducting day to day work activity by adhering to all policies and procedures as enumerated in compliance and risk management programs.
  • Education, Experience, and Certification/Licensure Required: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completed course of study of massage therapy and current state licensure as described by the State Medical Board of Ohio. Prior experience in delivering therapeutic massage
