About This Position
The ACE Program is a youth employment program that offers young people ages 16-24 paid summer internship and professional development experience. Participants are able to explore a variety of careers within the cities of Hopkins, Minnetonka and local businesses to build and grow their professional and leadership skills.
JOB DETAILS:
This is an internship position that intends to meet the following City goals:
- Support young adults who are underrepresented in the workforce and face a barrier to employment.
- Expose young adults to city government operation and the careers available to them.
This position will be an ongoing commitment beginning June 16th through August 6th, Tuesday-Thursday each week during the hours of 9:00am-4:00pm. Some positions may be a mix of regular business hours, night and weekend work.
Scope of Impact:
The duties and responsibilities of this job are performed with latitude for independent judgement in accordance with Department and City policies, Federal, State and Local regulations and are based on detailed knowledge of department operations. Work is subject to periodic review by the supervisor, who provides input on approval of recommendations and discusses assignments, priorities, and work.

Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
Working Conditions:
The internship positions will have differing locations depending on the department. Some positions include an office setting, warehouse, outdoors, etc.
Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and experience required. To perform this job successfully, the worker must possess the abilities and aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.
