About This Position

POSITION TITLE: Pharmacy Technician Senior, Team Lead

POSITION NO: 177

JOB SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Technician Senior, Team Lead works under the supervision of a pharmacist, to assist

them in day to day tasks to prepare and dispense pharmaceutical drugs in accordance with standards,

State and Federal laws, and department policies and procedures. The Pharmacy Technician Senior,

Team Lead interacts cooperatively and courteously with co-workers and healthcare providers to

provide customers and patients excellent customer service with each request. This role trains new

Pharmacy Technicians and mentors Pharmacy Technicians per management’s direction to assist with

workflow and increase abilities within the department. The Pharmacy Technician Senior, Team Lead

assists with the day-to-day supervisory duties and works to promote a positive team environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Verifies prescribers’ orders and accurately data enters prescription into pharmacy software

system to accurately fill, dispense and bill the prescription to meet the customer’s need.

2. Prepares and labels medications accurately and ensures each prescription is checked by a

pharmacist before dispensing to the patient.

3. Communicates with prescribers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve issues regarding

filling a prescription or billing situations.

4. Verifies that proper billing is applied to prescriptions to make sure the correct payment is

received from both patients and third-party payers.

5. Prepares mail order forms and auxiliary information for patients to ensure the correct

prescription information is conveyed to the patient.

6. Maintains inventory per department protocols to ensure adequate inventory volumes are available.

7. Manages ordering of medications and items necessary for pharmacy operations.

8. Trains new Pharmacy Technicians and mentors Pharmacy Technicians per management’s

direction to assist with workflow and increase their abilities.

9. Assists in developing goals and strategies to improve the workflow and efficiencies of the area.

10. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.

11. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge

and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

1. Performs all duties of the Pharmacy Clerk and Pharmacy Assistant as needed.

2. Other duties as assigned.
