General Manager Job Description
Department: | Operations |
Reports to: | Director of Operations |
Supervises: | Production Supervisors, Drivers Supervisor, and Maintenance Manager of all healthcare plants |
Job summary
The General Manager will be the on-site leader for all operations and activities at the assigned facilities (plants). The manager in this role must have extremely strong communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Responsible for the overall management of every facet of division operations
- Responsible for successfully coordinating and supporting all activities of the division including financial responsibility.
- Oversees management team as a leader in achieving all physical and financial goals.
- Ensures that all activities are conducted in a safe and ethical manner.
- Provide leadership, guidance and oversite to your direct reports.
- Ensure that the plants are well maintained and are clean and presentable.
- Deal directly with the service department to resolve issues which may occur.
Duties and essential job functions:
Achieve Budget/Financial Responsibilities
- Ensure division is meeting profit goals
- Controls expenses within area of responsibility.
- Develops and implements methodologies that ensure that division operates within budget.
- Evaluates and justifies expenditures
- Provides completed reports as required to document operational and financial performance
- Any other duties as assigned.
Operational Excellence
- Demonstrates quality leadership in meeting performance plans.
- Acts as a positive role model; proactive in the achievement of the division goals and objectives.
- Participate and add value to committees, meetings, activities
- Understands and develops total quality management process through rounding the facilities.
- Demonstrates understanding and competency in interviewing candidates for openings.
- Set and makes sure Production schedules are adhered to.
- Ensure performance is being measured against standards and that personnel are informed as to the results of the measurements.
- Oversee the washroom operations and ensure that quality and efficiency is maintained.
- Oversee maintenance operations and make sure we are following a Preventative model vs a crisis/breakdown model.
- Monitor and Control the Company’s Utility usage for maximum efficiency and regularly issue reports to upper management.
- Deal directly the Service Department to ensure any problems or questions are resolved
- Demonstrates knowledge of CITY policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations that affect plant operations.
- Set and communicate quality standards and strategies to maintain these goals.
- Any other duties as assigned.
People Management
- Maintains excellence in relationships with customers through service manager.
- Ensure managers and other personnel are fully capable of performing their job functions.
- Encourages and nurtures employee creativity and innovation
- Develop and maintain performance appraisals for subordinates on a timely and accurate basis.
- Encourage subordinates to participate in additional training, education, and/or self-development.
- Maintains a harassment free environment with good employee morale by demonstrating good employee relations practices and utilizing HR consultation when needed.
- Assist with employee coaching as needed.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Administration
- Provides high level of communication, keeping all managers/directors informed of activities, needs or concerns.
- Create a plan to train and develop a successor as well as other managers/supervisor have a succession plan.
- Maintains records and statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes.
- Supports establishment and implementation of policies and procedures for departmental operations.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies.
- Maintains high quality relationships with vendors and service providers so as to enhance the professional image of CITY Healthcare in our business community.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
