Job Description

Instructor of Public Speaking- Annually Contracted Faculty
Spartanburg Methodist College invites applications for a full-time, annually contracted faculty appointment for an Instructor of Public Speaking beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year. In person, on-ground teaching is the primary responsibility of the position (no nights, no weekends). The standard teaching load for this position is ten courses per academic year: five courses in the fall semester and five courses in the spring semester.
Spartanburg Methodist College has a long history of providing excellent undergraduate education for students who are traditionally underserved. The institution seeks qualified candidates who possess the skills and abilities to work with students who have academic and life challenges. The successful candidate will have a clearly articulated teaching philosophy; experience with first-generation, non-traditional, and/or traditionally underserved student populations; and a record of teaching excellence. Spartanburg Methodist College particularly welcomes applications from candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications for this position include:
- A Master's of Arts or Science in Communicaitons or related field, or a master's degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in business, a Ph.D. in Communicaiotns is preferred.
- 2 years of teaching experience, two years of teaching at the college level is preferred.
