Job Description

SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the review of manufacturing specifications for vendor-managed parts to source high-quality parts at a reasonable price. This on-site role involves working with suppliers to evaluate materials for use in products that must meet specialized design and performance specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Interphase with onboarding suppliers as we migrate to a make-versus-buy business

Manage demand expectations with suppliers.

Manage suppliers to manufacture products to our specifications and quickly drive quality KPI accountability.

Drive CI (Continuous Improvement) and price reduction strategies with suppliers

Drive interpersonal/influential relationships with suppliers, with the management of internal expectations.

Work collaboratively with Ireland and Mexico with the supplier onboarding process and be able to attack issues to drive resolution.

Performing quality control audits to ensure suppliers comply with company standards and specifications.

Improve the process of reviewing incoming materials and parts; oversee quality assurance testing processes to identify and mitigate quality issues before they reach the production area.

Managing existing supply base to ensure purchased materials meet required specifications and drawings.

Visiting supplier sites to observe and audit manufacturing processes and procedures as standard practice and to qualify potential new vendors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Quality Systems – Knowledge and experience in a Quality centric environment based on industry-standard Quality systems such as ISO or IATF

Leadership – Ability to execute a strategy through the collaboration of others with aptitude and character to become a leader of the overall Quality function.

Engineering & Technology – Knowledge of the practice application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Materials and Manufacturing - Experience in injection molding and CNC machine processes preferred.

Mathematics and Physics – Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, as well as mechanical and electrical structures and processes.

Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods

Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning and resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of resources.

Critical Thinking & Complex Problem Solving – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

Written and oral Communication - Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the audience's needs; communicating information and ideas in speaking so others will understand; and identifying and understanding the speech of diverse populations.

Written & Oral Comprehension and Listening—The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Manufacturing preferred

Five years working in a Quality role in a manufacturing environment is preferred

Practical knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite, ERP (JD Edwards), Manufacturing Intelligence Software (Hertzler), and CAD.

Knowledge and application of ISO standards

Regular and reliable attendance

Must have the Authorization to work in the United States and be able to have lawful access to controlled technology as required for this position.

COMPENSATION RANGE

The estimated annual compensation for this position is $98,000.00 - $108,00.00 DOE.

This position is eligible to participate in Micropump's local annual bonus plan. The target bonus for this position will be 12% of your base compensation and based on business performance.

This position is also eligible for our comprehensive U.S. benefit offerings, including Health benefits, 401(k) retirement savings program with company match and immediate vesting, etc., and for two weeks of vacation, pro-rated.
