We have openings for a Sanitation Technician to join our team. The Sanitation Technician is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic production environment by performing routine and deep cleaning of equipment, production areas, and facility spaces in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards. This role follows established procedures, including the 7 Steps of Sanitation, and adheres to all safety, GMP, and SSOP guidelines.
Freshpack is a custom cheese packaging company that develops and innovates cheese products and packaging. Our products can be found in all 50 states and in most major retailers. Over the past 25 years, our team has grown from 15 to 280+ employees. It is an exciting time to join our team, as we are poised for substantial growth over the next 3-5 years.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Execution
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of processing equipment using the 7 Steps of Sanitation
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment as required for effective cleaning
- Clean and maintain floors, drains, walls, and other facility surfaces on a regular schedule
- Execute scheduled cleaning of coolers, warehouses, and non-production areas
- Assist with deep cleaning and shutdown cleaning tasks during non-production days or special sanitation events
- Safety
- Follow all workplace safety policies, including proper use of PPE, lockout/tagout procedures, and chemical handling protocols
- Identify and report any unsafe conditions or practices immediately to Supervisor or Foreman
- Safely handle and apply cleaning chemicals, following all label instructions and dilution protocols
- Compliance
- Adhere strictly to all food safety guidelines, including GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures)
- Participate in regular safety and food safety trainings and refreshers as required
- Proactively suggest improvements to sanitation processes to reduce risk and enhance product safety
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by participating in audits, reviews, and team meetings
Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English or Spanish
- Ability to work in wet, hot, or cold environments, lift/move equipment, and stand for long periods.
Shifts
- 9:30pm - 6:00am Mon - Thu (some overtime required on Fridays)
