Position Summary:
The Sanitation Crew Leader is responsible for producing a safe and quality food product per the USDA guidelines; direct and assign work to personnel; and is required to report all food and safety-related problems to their supervisor, manager, or Quality Assurance department in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement proper procedures for the Sanitation department.
- Create department schedules to ensure that all work is performed and completed in a timely fashion.
- Perform all supervisory functions, take/recommend appropriate disciplinary action when warranted, and assign and direct daily tasks.
- Ensure cleaning and sanitation of plant equipment and the environment thoroughly and safely.
- Operate cleaning systems and equipment as trained and specified.
- Ensure all Sanitation (Pre-Op) checks are performed at designated intervals.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of performed checks and are properly documented according to company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships and communications with employees from all other departments.
- Perform all other duties as assigned that are necessary, required, or directed by management.
- Follow all required safe handling procedures for a chemical used; use SDS when necessary.
- Properly dilutes/mixes chemicals following procedures carefully.
- Use chemical test kits according to specifications; complete required paperwork on chemical test kits.
- Use chemical test kits to check for appropriate concentration levels.
- Ensure the use of required safety equipment and compliance of safety procedures.
- Analyze situations to provide solutions that are in the best interest of the company.
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
- Utilize software functions to record accurate production, downtime, and/or rework information.
- Ensure that employees are abiding by all CBQ, LLC., policies via the Employee Handbook, and are following safety, cleaning, and food safety protocols.
- Maintain work area in a clean, organized, and sanitary manner.
- Take responsibility for the work area assigned to ensure all equipment is properly clean and ready for the production of safe food products.
- Report all food and safety-related issues to your Supervisor, Manager, or the Quality Assurance department to initiate immediate action.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience/Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED is required
- 1-2 years of related work experience is preferred.
- Ability to legally work in the United States
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and squat as needed for housekeeping responsibilities and other miscellaneous duties.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and/or overtime when needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Must be able to work 40 or more hours per week, including weekends.
- Must be highly attentive to detail (i.e. meat type/film/date/equipment).
- Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
- Must be able to handle varying temperatures per department (hot/cold/humid).
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in temperatures below 40 degrees.
- Must be flexible and able to work schedules.
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to stand for 9-10 hours per day.
- Manufacturing plant environment with frequent standing for extended periods; walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds unassisted; bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, and climbing stairs and ladders; work area may be slippery and may have uneven surfaces, some aboveground level elevated surfaces.
Pay range for this position is $20 to $22/hour depending on experience.
