Overview

This role will build and scale a cohesive capital markets platform that deepens client relationships, expands fee-based revenue, and enhances the bank's competitive position beyond traditional lending. It addresses the need for integrated advisory, distribution, and risk management capabilities to better serve increasingly complex client financing needs while improving balance sheet efficiency and revenue diversification. Leads the creation of a high-impact capital markets franchise within the commercial bank, with significant strategic visibility and influence.



Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the overall capital markets strategy, including prioritizing products, client segments, and growth initiatives aligned with broader business objectives.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team, establishing clear roles, performance expectations, and a culture of accountability, collaboration, and disciplined execution.
  • Drive client origination and advisory efforts by partnering with relationship teams to deliver complex financing, risk management, and capital structure solutions that deepen client relationships.
  • Develop and maintain a robust distribution and investor network to support loan syndication, capital placement, and secondary market activities, ensuring consistent execution quality and market credibility.
  • Establish an integrated operating model that connects advisory, execution, and distribution capabilities, ensuring seamless delivery of capital markets solutions across the organization.
  • Design and implement governance frameworks, policies, and controls to manage risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and support sustainable growth across all capital markets activities.
  • Oversee infrastructure, systems, and analytics required to support pricing, transaction execution, exposure management, and performance measurement.



Qualifications

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent experience. Specialty: finance, business, or related.

Required Experience

15 or more years experience in capital markets, commercial banking, or institutional finance.

Preferred Certifications

Professional certifications or licenses relevant to capital markets activities (e.g., securities licenses or investment-related designations).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Deep knowledge in syndicated lending, loan distribution, derivatives, foreign exchange, and CRE capital markets, including market structures, investor dynamics, and industry best practices. (Required)
  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial banking, corporate finance, credit risk, market risk, and regulatory frameworks governing capital markets activities. (Required)
  • Ability to structure, negotiate, and oversee complex, multi-product capital markets transactions while balancing client needs, bank objectives, and risk considerations. (Required)
  • Ability to balance aggressive business development objectives with prudent risk management and regulatory expectations. (Required)
  • Proven ability to establish, lead, and scale integrated capital markets and syndications platforms that support organizational growth and client expansion objectives. (Preferred)
  • Strong strategic planning, financial analysis, and market assessment capabilities to identify growth opportunities and enhance competitive positioning. (Preferred)
  • Ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and client focus. (Preferred)
