Job Summary
Encore Labs is looking for a pesticides analytical chemist who has a strong background in analytical chemistry and worked in previous laboratory environments, preferably in the cannabis testing environment or food testing environment. Candidate will need to be familiarized with instrumentation such as LCMS and other industry related equipment for cannabis sample testing for pesticide analysis.
General Duties:
• Perform required analyses for the pesticides department using LCMS/MS, GCMS/MS, and assisting in day-to-day operational aspects and testing procedures.
• Aid in set up, calibration and troubleshooting instruments.
• Monitoring performance data and the validity of the analyses for the laboratory.
• Ensure and work under frameworks of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and ISO 17025
• Provide and establish all proper documentation for best laboratory testing practices & update, as necessary.
• Analyze data via LIMS software for trends to create research reports.
• Flexibility, preparedness to adjust to rapidly developing priorities and carry multiple responsibilities in a challenging environment.
Qualifications
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Bachelor's degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university, plus at least 2 years of full-time practical laboratory experience; or a bachelor's degree in any field with at least 4 years of relevant full-time practical laboratory experience. A master's degree in a related scientific field is a plus.
• 3–5+ years of laboratory instrumentation experience with platforms such as Agilent, Waters, Shimadzu, or equivalent.
• Experience in analytical chemistry.
• Experience operating HPLC, GC-MS, and/or ICP-MS instrumentation preferred.
• Experience in a regulated laboratory environment (ISO 17025, GLP, or GMP).
• Cannabis sample processing and testing experience preferred; experience in food safety, environmental testing, or other analytical laboratory settings will also be considered.
• Experience working in the cannabis industry preferred.
• Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
