POSITION SUMMARY:
The Certified Journeyman Electrician is a member of the commercial installation team. This role will perform commercial solar electrical installations, troubleshoot issues on installed systems, and will be responsible for installation, maintenance, testing, and wiring of commercial solar projects. This role will ensure adherence to safety protocols relating to electrical installations. Daily communication with Foremen, Superintendents, Engineers, and Operations Managers internally and externally.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Works under direction of the Transform Energy’s Construction Manager. As an “at will” employee, employment may be terminated at any time by the employee or employer with or without notice and with or without cause.
QUANTIFIABLE DIMENSIONS:
Provides day-to-day support and oversight of the team assigned to ensure jobs are completed timely, efficiently, and safely, meeting quality standards set by industry and Transform Energy.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS/CONTACTS:
Frequent contact with Transform Energy team members, the Construction Manager, Operations Manager, Foreman, external customers, and vendors.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Install all electrical portions of installations in a safe, compliant, high quality and efficient manner.
- Installs and maintains 480Y, 240V Delta, 208Y/120V systems and low voltage electrical systems.
- Conduct line side taps.
- Ensure all job sites have materials, tools, and equipment to perform safely and efficiently.
- Cut, bend, thread and run electrical conduit materials, pull electrical wiring through electrical conduit, terminate electrical panels, set fixtures, outlets, and various electrical devices.
- Install and connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, outlets or other components and systems.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Communicate with the Foreman, Construction Manager and Operations Manager problems encountered which would affect the schedule or require added materials to be procured.
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Use and ensure the proper safety equipment and practices for safe installation with Cal OSHA compliance and adherence to corporate safety requirements and regulations.
- Participate in safety and operations meetings.
- Maintain consistent and appropriate interface with customers throughout the construction phase.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have a current and verifiable State of California Electrician certificate (ET card not accepted).
- Three-phase electrical power experience required.
- Experience that shows progressive growth and responsibility.
- Mechanical Installation experience.
- Professional appearance.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Must have outstanding ability to manage and motivate others.
- Travel required, valid driver’s license, and successful background check.
Education:
High school diploma or GED required. State of California Electrician certificate (ET card not accepted).
Experience:
Must have 2-5 years’ experience as a certified electrician. Experience reading and interpreting plan sets, directing others work and supervising projects. A minimum of 2 years’ commercial solar experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Regularly required to see, speak and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and be able to move equipment and/or materials while climbing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high voltage electricity, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
