This role is centered on the design, development, and modernization of instrumentation and control systems that support nuclear power generation and the transition toward next-generation clean energy technologies. You will contribute to complex engineering projects involving digital control systems, plant instrumentation, and advanced process automation for nuclear facilities, including both existing plants and emerging reactor designs. The position plays a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of critical energy infrastructure through robust control system design and analysis. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, support client engagements, and contribute to technical decision-making on large-scale nuclear projects. - Design and develop instrumentation and control systems for nuclear power plants, including PLC, DCS, and digital control technologies.
- Prepare functional requirements, procurement specifications, and system design documentation for I&C components and systems.
- Evaluate, upgrade, and replace plant instrumentation systems, including support for nuclear modification packages and technical assessments.
- Develop and review P&IDs, system design descriptions, and control system architectures for complex nuclear applications.
- Support design and integration of control systems for key plant equipment such as turbines, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and reactors.
- Participate in client meetings, technical reviews, and plant site walkdowns to validate engineering solutions and ensure alignment with requirements.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior instrumentation and controls engineers.
- Support outage planning and execution activities to ensure system reliability and operational continuity.
- Review engineering drawings and designs produced by others to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of control system design practices and modernization initiatives in nuclear facilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process control system design engineering.
- Experience in nuclear power plant instrumentation and control systems is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of PLC, DCS, and digital control systems in power generation environments.
- Experience with instrumentation design for turbines, pumps, feedwater systems, and plant control applications.
- Knowledge of BWR or PWR reactor control systems and associated plant operations is highly desirable.
- Ability to develop and review technical drawings, specifications, and engineering design documentation.
- Strong understanding of process instrumentation, mechatronics, and control system engineering principles.
- Familiarity with modern engineering tools, automation concepts, or data-driven design approaches is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and client stakeholders.
