Job Description
To repair and maintain die casting dies and trim dies both in the tool room setting and while the dies are installed in machines.
Requirements:include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Must be familiar with the proper use of hand tools, wrenches, hammers, tube benders, air tools, etc. and their accessories
- Manual Mill/Lathe, profile grinding
- Assists other tooling personnel in the repair and maintenance of tooling and equipment
- Able to read and familiar with micrometers, depth micrometers and calipers and their uses
- Attention to detail in performing work, checking work, and documenting to assure quality, under the supervision of the designated associate
- Works in a safe and efficient manner with good housekeeping practices
- Must be able to read and understand work instructions, cooling diagrams, simple assembly prints, and remember how components are taken apart and put together again
- Must be willing to supply your own hand tools and tool box
Academic Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent - preferred
Required Skills & Experience
- Technical training, including basic blueprint reading, shop math.
- Ability to locate dies scheduled for maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge on opening dies to inspect for defects, clean and polish cavities, surfaces and parting line surfaces
- Ability to check/repair water lines for breaks, blockage and free flow and install replacement fittings as necessary.
- Interpret and follow simple blueprints.
- Ability to replace bent or broken ejector and punch pins.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor tool problems.
- Maintain die cast dies for back up use.
- Prepare dies/cavities for shipment to outside tool vendor; which includes removing die cavities from retainer whenever possible.
- Familiar with proper operations of: drill presses, bench grinders, cut off saws, abrasive saws, and pedestal grinders.
- Capable of working on hot molds (300-600 degrees F) with company provided PPE.
- TIG welding.
- Existing or previous Fork lift license or experience is a plus, will be certified through our facility.
- Familiarity with the use of an overhead crane is necessary.
- Familiarity of how to set up or maintain low voltage electrical circuits is a plus.
- Familiarity of how to set up, trouble shoot and inspect pneumatic circuits is a plus
- Ability to follow the Linamar LMP Safety Standard
- Basic Computer Skills
- Other duties as assigned
