Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is searching for a full-time Telemetry Technician. Aa a Telemetry Technician, you will perform continuous ECG rhythm interpretation, 12-lead EKGs, and telemetry device management for patients ranging from adolescents to geriatrics.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Graduate
  • Completion of dysrhythmia course
  • 12 Lead ECG competency
  • Previous clinical/patient care experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:

  • Previous clinical/patient care experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from AHA


Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-time, Night Shift (37.5 hours per week)


Essential Functions:

  • Conducts cardiac monitoring on adolescent to geriatric patients, including application of monitors, rhythm interpretation, and performance of 12 lead EKG
  • Provides physicians and nurses with data for use in the diagnosis and the planning of interventions related to cardiac conditions
  • Prepares patient for monitoring using proper technique in electrode
  • Removal of telemetry transmitter for all patients leaving the unit for tests/ procedures and replacement of transmitter on return to unit
  • Completes appropriate documentation on telemetry mount sheets each shift
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of telemetry transmitters and other monitoring equipment
  • Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to determine each patient's age-specific needs and provide age specific treatment
  • Makes rounds to verify patient status every two hours and as necessary
  • Replenishes monitoring supplies each shift
