Job Summary:
Hanover Bank is looking for a full-time Assistant Branch Manager to join our team. The Assistant Branch Manager Officer delivers exceptional client service while proactively driving branch sales performance and deposit growth. This role is responsible for leading by example in executing a relationship-based sales and service strategy, focused on acquiring, retaining, and deepening both consumer and business relationships.
The Assistant Branch Manager Officer ensures the Bank’s goals and objectives are achieved by combining strong operational oversight with disciplined sales execution, including outbound prospecting, pipeline management, and community engagement. In partnership with Retail Management and Business Development Officers, this role is accountable for the development and execution of strategies to achieve branch growth, business development, and deposit expansion goals.
This individual manages all branch functions, while coaching and motivating staff to deliver proactive, needs-based selling and high-touch client service.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Client Relationship Management & Service Excellence
Ensure delivery of a proactive, high-touch client experience, including regular outreach to key clients to drive retention and growth.
- Build and maintain relationships with consumer and business clients to understand financial needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Resolve client escalations while identifying opportunities to strengthen the relationship.
- Reinforce a service culture that balances responsiveness with revenue generation.
- Ensure customer service standards are consistently exceeded and client satisfaction remains high.
Team Leadership, Coaching & Performance Management
- Supervise, coach, and mentor branch staff to successfully execute both service and sales expectations.
- Conduct regular sales coaching sessions, pipeline reviews, and performance discussions with team members.
- Set clear expectations for activity-based metrics (calls, appointments, referrals) and outcomes (deposit growth, account acquisition).
- Monitor activities and conduct performance appraisals and provide ongoing feedback aligned with sales and service goals.
- Foster a high-performance, sales and service oriented culture within the branch.
Sales Leadership & Business Development
- Lead the execution of a proactive branch sales strategy, with an emphasis on Commercial, small business and consumer deposit growth.
- Coach and hold team members accountable to daily and weekly sales activities, including outbound calls and referral generation.
- Personally engage in business development efforts, including outbound prospecting, COI (Centers of Influence) relationship building, and community involvement.
- Establish and maintain a branch pipeline of opportunities, ensuring consistent follow-up and conversion of prospects to clients.
- Partner with Business Bankers, Commercial Relationship Managers, and Cash Management teams to identify, refer, and close business opportunities.
- Drive a culture of needs-based selling, ensuring all client interactions uncover opportunities to deepen relationships.
- Actively participate in joint calls and client meetings to support complex sales and relationship development.
Branch Operations & Risk Management
- Supervise the day-to-day operational functions of the branch, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Ensure all transactions and account openings (consumer, business, municipal) are processed accurately and in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
- Maintain operational integrity, including cash controls, audits, and adherence to compliance and regulatory requirements (BSA/AML).
- Collaborate with Compliance and BSA Officers to ensure all monitoring, reporting, and controls are effectively executed.
- Ensure all security procedures are strictly followed to protect employees, customers, and Bank assets.
Sales Execution & Product Expertise
- Maintain strong knowledge of all Bank products and services, with emphasis on business banking and cash management solutions.
- Proactively promote and sell Bank products, ensuring alignment with client needs and branch goals.
- Oversee the execution of sales campaigns, promotions, and incentive programs.
- Ensure team members are effectively identifying and referring opportunities across all lines of business.
Branch Administration & Support
- Conduct branch and department meetings to communicate goals, reinforce sales focus, and ensure operational alignment.
- Assist customers with routine and complex transactions, including wires, disputes (Reg E), overdrafts, and account servicing needs.
- Oversee branch opening/closing procedures, vault management, and facilities.
- Provide hands-on support during peak periods to maintain service levels and operational coverage.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
Performance Expectations

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 5 years of related banking experience
- Experience opening and managing business accounts and relationships preferred
- Strong knowledge of business banking and cash management services
- Proven ability to generate business and deepen client relationships
- Strong understanding of Bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

Salary: $67,000.00 - $81,000.00; placement within this range will vary based on experience and skill level.
