Job Description

Senior Release Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Release Engineer in United States.

This role sits at the core of a high-performing, cloud-native engineering organization where software delivery speed, reliability, and security are critical to mission success. You will be responsible for designing and evolving end-to-end release and deployment systems that enable teams to ship confidently and frequently across production environments. Working in a remote-first, highly collaborative environment, you will shape CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and Kubernetes-based delivery platforms. Your work will directly impact developer productivity, system resilience, and the overall safety of production releases. This is a highly technical and influential position requiring deep platform engineering expertise and a passion for automation. You will collaborate closely with engineers across teams to remove friction in delivery workflows and build scalable “golden paths” for software deployment.

Accountabilities

You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and improving the organization’s release engineering ecosystem, ensuring fast, secure, and reliable software delivery across all environments.

  • Design and maintain a standardized deployment “golden path” from code merge to production, ensuring consistent, secure, and repeatable releases
  • Build and scale CI/CD pipelines with a focus on deterministic builds, caching efficiency, fast feedback loops, and developer productivity
  • Implement and operate automated security controls within release pipelines, including vulnerability scanning, dependency checks, SAST/DAST, and CVE monitoring
  • Manage and optimize deployment strategies such as canary releases, blue/green deployments, progressive delivery, and automated rollback systems
  • Own Kubernetes-based deployment infrastructure, including Helm charts and environment configuration management for consistency and reliability
  • Partner with engineering teams to remove delivery bottlenecks and enable self-service, high-confidence deployment workflows
  • Improve platform resilience and reduce operational toil through automation, observability enhancements, and continuous delivery optimization
Requirements

You bring strong experience in release engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering, with a deep understanding of modern cloud-native delivery systems and a strong automation mindset.

  • 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Release Engineering, or Platform Engineering roles
  • Proven experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines in production-scale cloud environments
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Kubernetes and Helm in production systems
  • Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles and configuration management practices
  • Experience with GitOps and CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Argo CD, or similar
  • Experience integrating security tooling into delivery pipelines (vulnerability scanning, dependency checks, application security controls)
  • Strong knowledge of Linux systems, networking fundamentals, containers, and distributed systems
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in remote, cross-functional environments
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to influence engineering practices across teams
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary ($180K–$200K) with equity participation
  • Remote-first work environment with flexible work arrangements
  • Flexible PTO policy and strong emphasis on work-life balance
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching
  • 8 weeks of fully paid parental leave
  • Annual company retreats and team gatherings
  • Home office stipend ($1,000 annually) for equipment and workspace improvements
  • Equity grant participation aligned with company growth and success
