Job Description
Job Summary:
The Respiratory Manager shall implement all basic and advanced procedures (non-invasive and invasive) as ordered by the physician in a systematic manner to include assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team as evidenced by documentation in the patient care record, direct observation by the physician, nursing staff and patient evaluation of care. The supervisor is ultimately accountable to the department director, nurse management and physicians. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and sensitivity to cultural and religious beliefs of patients, visitors and staff. Demonstrates knowledge and skills for the operation, management and re-processing of all respiratory equipment according to policies and procedures.
Performance Expectations:
- Troubleshoots multiple pieces of equipment associated with Respiratory Care to ensure reliable operations and continuity of patient care.
- Tolerates high and low temperature ranges set to accommodate desired patient outcomes.
- Tolerates physically demanding tasks of moving equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both yourself and/or patient
- Demonstrate the ability to use EPIC EMR proficiently.
- Draw, run and result blood gasses.
- Utilizes critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of hospital policies and government regulations.
- Consults with physicians and nursing staff department operations in an effort to provide optimal respirator care workflows and patient care.
- Communicates routinely with hospital leadership concerning policy recommendations and suggested courses of action pertinent to the efficient operation of assigned departments. Implements new policies and disseminations pertinent information following administrative directives.
- Behaviors and interactions demonstrate a positive attitude, personal initiative, and motivation to achieve the department's goals.
- Champions the development and growth of safety culture.
- Participates in all competencies planned for the job role before deadlines.
- Complies with the departmental and facility policy.
- Follows the policies in the Employee Handbook.

- Required appropriate use of the department’s communication app.
- The spreading of rumors and gossip creates unnecessary turmoil, weakens working relationships, and is contrary to the spirit of the hospital and is prohibited.

Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Graduate of accredited Respiratory Care Practitioner Program
Work Experience:
Four years Respiratory Therapy experience, including intensive care adult/nursery preferred
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Licensed with MS Department of Health (MSRT)
- Registered by NBRC
Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below

Ability to teach and train using the various learning styles the trainee may prefer.
