Education Analytics (EA) is a nonprofit organization that partners with states, school districts, and
education organizations to improve student outcomes through data, analytics, and technology. We
believe that better data systems and collaborative technology can help education leaders make more
informed decisions that positively impact students.
We are seeking a Senior Vice President, ETC Technology Strategy to provide executive leadership for
Education Analytics' strategic partnership with the EdTech Collaboratory (ETC). This highly visible
leadership role serves as the primary strategic, technical, and delivery leader supporting ETC's mission to
collaboratively develop shared, standards-based technology assets that improve education data systems
across member states.
Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, this position is a member of EA's Senior Program Leadership
Team and works in close partnership with the Chief Solutions Officer to advance ETC's technology
strategy, member engagement, and long-term growth.
The ideal candidate combines executive leadership experience with deep technical expertise in
statewide education technology systems and collaborative partnerships.
The Senior Vice President, ETC Technology Strategy serves as a trusted advisor to state education agency
executives, technology leaders, and ETC governance bodies. This leader will guide collaborative
technology strategy, oversee shared technology investments, strengthen member engagement, expand
adoption of ETC-developed solutions, and support Education Analytics' growth strategy through broader
implementation of EDU and related technologies.
Success in this role requires a unique combination of executive leadership, education technology
expertise, relationship management, strategic planning, and experience leading statewide education
technology initiatives.
Requirements:Lead ETC Technology Strategy
- Develop and maintain a shared technology vision across ETC member organizations.
- Guide member states through the ETC Technology Maturity Matrix and provide strategic recommendations for advancing technology maturity.
- Facilitate annual technology planning and investment prioritization across member states.
- Build consensus around shared technology investments, interoperability priorities, and common infrastructure.
- Monitor emerging trends, opportunities, and risks affecting statewide education technology and interoperability.
- Represent Education Analytics and ETC as a recognized thought leader within education technology, interoperability, and data standards communities.
Lead Shared Technology Delivery
- Translate ETC priorities into strategic development roadmaps and annual delivery plans.
- Lead planning and scoping for collaborative development initiatives.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Implementation, and Services teams to ensure successful execution of ETC investments.
- Provide executive oversight for shared technology initiatives alongside ETC's Technical Lead.
- Identify and manage delivery risks, dependencies, and escalations.
- Communicate progress, priorities, and outcomes to ETC members and EA leadership.
Build Strong Member Partnerships
- Develop strategies to expand ETC membership among state education agencies.
- Broaden engagement beyond state CIOs by cultivating relationships with program, policy, and technology leaders.
- Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across ETC member organizations.
- Support successful implementation and adoption of ETC-developed technology assets and shared solutions.
Drive Organizational Growth
- Identify opportunities to expand adoption of EDU and related technologies across state agencies and regional collaboratives.
- Partner with Business Strategy to develop new opportunities, support proposal development, and scope strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to revenue growth associated with ETC expansion and technology adoption.
Provide Executive Leadership
- Serve as a senior leader within Education Analytics' Program division.
- Collaborate across Product, Engineering, Data Science, Business Strategy, and Services to align organizational capabilities with ETC priorities.
- Help shape organizational strategy while strengthening cross-functional collaboration and execution.
Qualifications
- Deep understanding of statewide education technology ecosystems, governance structures, and education data strategy.
- Strong knowledge of Ed-Fi, EDU, 1EdTech, and other education interoperability standards.
- Experience designing and implementing modern education data architectures built on Ed-Fi and EDU.
- Exceptional executive communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with executive stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to lead through influence, collaboration, and ambiguity.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Information Systems, Computer Science, Public Administration, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Advanced degree preferred.
- Six or more years of executive leadership experience within education, education technology, or public-sector technology organizations, ideally complemented by private-sector leadership experience in organizations focused on growth, innovation, and operational maturity.
- Experience serving as a Chief Information Officer, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Data Officer, Deputy Superintendent, or equivalent executive leader within a U.S. State Education Agency.
- Direct responsibility for statewide education data systems, interoperability initiatives, longitudinal data systems, and related technology infrastructure.
- At least three years of experience implementing and operating the Ed-Fi Technology Suite and EDU at the statewide level.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale technology modernization initiatives.
- Extensive knowledge of the K–12 education technology landscape.
