This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, data systems, and healthcare interoperability, supporting mission-driven programs in public health and defense-related environments. You will design and build scalable applications, databases, and data platforms that enable seamless data exchange across complex healthcare systems. The work directly contributes to research, clinical implementation, and operational readiness initiatives. You will operate in a fast-paced, collaborative environment alongside engineers, analysts, and stakeholders across distributed teams. The role requires strong technical depth as well as the ability to translate complex requirements into reliable, secure, and maintainable solutions. It offers the opportunity to work on impactful systems where data quality, interoperability, and security are critical.

The role involves building and sustaining databases, APIs, and data collection platforms while ensuring interoperability across systems and supporting analytics and reporting capabilities. You will also contribute to workflow automation, software lifecycle management, cybersecurity compliance, and documentation of technical solutions, while collaborating with stakeholders to support evolving mission and program needs.

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications, databases, and data collection systems.

  • Evaluate and support adoption of emerging technologies including AI and automation tools.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings a background in software engineering, systems engineering, or data engineering, with experience working in data-driven environments. Strong knowledge of database systems, APIs, and software development principles is essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Experience in healthcare systems, interoperability standards, or government environments is highly valued, as is familiarity with cloud platforms and modern data architectures. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders are key to success in this role.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or data engineering.
  • Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability concepts and standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR).
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and multitasking skills in dynamic environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required U.S. government security clearance (including Secret level if required).
Benefits:
  • Competitive annual salary ranging from $110,000 to $145,000 based on experience and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching contributions.
  • Paid time off, holidays, and additional leave benefits.
  • Professional development and training opportunities.
