SBL Credit Analyst II

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SBL Credit Analyst II based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to support commercial lending decisions through detailed financial analysis and credit evaluation.
You will review loan submissions, assess borrower risk, and prepare recommendations that help guide responsible lending outcomes.

Accountabilities:

The SBL Credit Analyst II will support the evaluation, structuring, and approval process for small business lending requests by conducting financial reviews and preparing comprehensive credit documentation. This role requires strong analytical abilities, organization, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and borrower information to assess repayment capacity and overall credit risk.
  • Review SBA program eligibility requirements and ensure loan submissions meet applicable guidelines and internal policies.
  • Prepare detailed credit memos with accurate analysis, recommendations, and supporting documentation for management review.
  • Conduct financial spreading and preliminary credit analysis to evaluate borrower performance and loan viability.
  • Review third-party reports, credit reports, and publicly available information to support loan presentations.
  • Complete tax verifications, covenant tracking, financial collections, and other credit administration activities.
  • Support loan servicing teams with credit-related documentation and operational requirements.
  • Complete re-approval presentations, change memos, internal loan reviews, and adverse action requirements as needed.
  • Recommend loan structures and risk ratings in collaboration with lending teams.
  • Participate in loan committees by providing analysis and commentary on assigned requests.
  • Communicate with customers to gather required information and facilitate efficient loan processing.
  • Maintain compliance with banking regulations, credit policies, and operational procedures.
  • Manage multiple loan submissions simultaneously while meeting service expectations and deadlines.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders through responsive and professional communication.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented credit professional with experience in commercial lending, financial analysis, and risk assessment. They should demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative financial services environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience required; 7+ years preferred.
  • Experience with commercial credit analysis, lending processes, or financial evaluation preferred.
  • Knowledge of banking policies, lending practices, and credit risk principles.
  • Familiarity with SBA lending requirements and eligibility guidelines preferred.
  • Strong financial analysis skills, including reviewing financial statements and cash flow information.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial information and make sound recommendations.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and loan requests in various stages simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience with Sageworks Analysis is preferred.
  • Adaptability, collaboration skills, and willingness to receive feedback and coaching.
  • Preferred certifications or credentials include credit risk certifications, CPA, Certified Commercial Investment credentials, or other lending-related certifications.
  • Previous lending authority experience is a plus.
