Job Description

Position Description:
Lead Safety. Shape Culture. Influence the Business.

CDN Logistics is seeking an experienced transportation safety leader who is ready to do more than maintain compliance.

Join Our Leadership Team
This is more than a compliance position. It is an opportunity to influence the direction of a growing transportation company, work directly with executive leadership, and help create an environment where safety, operational excellence, and business performance go hand in hand. If you're ready to lead, innovate, and make a lasting impact, we'd like to hear from you.

Reporting directly to the Vice President, this leadership position offers the opportunity to shape the Company's safety strategy, influence operational decision-making, develop leaders across the organization, and help build one of the transportation industry's strongest safety cultures.

If you're looking for a role where your voice is heard at the executive table—not buried several layers beneath it—this is that opportunity.

About the Role
At CDN, Safety is more than regulatory compliance. It is about protecting our drivers, supporting our operations, strengthening customer confidence, reducing organizational risk, and creating a culture where every employee takes ownership of doing the right thing.

As Director of Safety, you will lead the Company's enterprise-wide transportation safety and regulatory compliance programs while partnering closely with Operations, Human Resources, Maintenance, Claims Administration, and Executive Leadership to drive continuous improvement across the organization.

This position combines strategic leadership with operational execution and provides the opportunity to make a measurable impact on business performance.

What You'll Do
You'll provide executive leadership in areas including:
  • Developing and executing the Company's transportation safety strategy
  • Leading FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and regulatory compliance initiatives
  • Building a proactive safety culture through coaching and leadership development
  • Partnering with Operations to reduce preventable accidents and operational risk
  • Leading accident investigations and organizational root cause analysis
  • Utilizing data, various technologies, telematics, and safety analytics to improve performance
  • Developing executive dashboards and performance reporting
  • Coaching operational leaders to strengthen safety accountability
  • Leading and developing a high-performing Safety team
  • Serving as the Company's primary advisor on transportation safety and compliance matters
We're Looking for Someone Who...
  • Leads through influence rather than enforcement.
  • Believes the best safety cultures are built through coaching, accountability, and partnership.
  • Understands both the operational and regulatory sides of trucking.
  • Is comfortable working directly with executive leadership.
  • Uses data to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Builds trust with drivers, managers, and frontline employees.
  • Sees safety as a business advantage—not simply a compliance requirement.
  • Travels as needed to implement solutions and support growth
Qualified candidates will possess:
  • Four or more years of progressive leadership experience in transportation safety, regulatory compliance, fleet operations, or risk management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations.
  • Experience leading accident investigations, regulatory audits, and enterprise safety initiatives.
  • Experience leading and developing professional teams.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and executive presentation skills.
  • Experience within LTL or truckload transportation preferred not required.
  • Working knowledge of transportation technology, telematics, ELD platforms, and safety management systems.
  • Professional safety certifications such as CSP, CDS, or CTSC are valued.
What Success Looks Like
During your first several months, you'll have the opportunity to:
  • Strengthen the Company's safety culture across all operations.
  • Improve operational safety performance through coaching and partnership.
  • Enhance regulatory readiness and compliance processes.
  • Develop meaningful executive performance metrics.
  • Build collaborative relationships across departments.
  • Position Safety as a strategic partner supporting operational excellence and long-term growth.
What We Offer
We take care of our people the way they take care of our customers. Our benefits and rewards are designed to support your health, family, and future.
  • Comprehensive benefits—medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; details on coverage and shared costs are reviewed during the interview process. Benefits are offered as a shared-cost program to balance affordability with sustainable, high-quality coverage.
  • 401(k) with company match to help you plan for long-term financial security
  • Paid vacation and holidays—including your birthday!
  • Supplemental insurance options such as disability, voluntary life, and legal coverage
  • Employee recognition and referral incentives that reward performance and teamwork
  • Career growth and training opportunities for those who want to learn and advance
  • Proudly 100% Veteran-owned, built on respect, reliability, and shared success
