Job Description

The Data Analyst supports PAEA’s mission by ensuring the effective use of Association data to meet both internal operational needs and external member-facing initiatives. This role leads the development of externally-facing Tableau dashboards and delivers clear, reliable reporting that helps staff and stakeholders better understand and use PAEA’s data. Working closely with teams across the organization, the Data Analyst gathers requirements, develops thoughtful visualizations, and provides ongoing support to ensure data resources are accessible, accurate, and aligned with business needs. The position also contributes to maintaining strong data quality and governance practices, particularly within the Salesforce ecosystem, and supports a shared understanding of PAEA’s data through documentation, training, and collaboration. Through this work, the Data Analyst helps strengthen PAEA’s ability to serve its members by supporting informed decision-making and consistent, high-quality data practices.

Essential Functions:
External Dashboard Development and Strategy
- Lead the design, development, and ongoing enhancement of externally-facing Tableau dashboards using PAEA data.
- Own the full dashboard lifecycle, including requirements gathering, data preparation, visualization design, testing, publishing, and iterative improvement.
- Establish and apply best practices for data visualization, ensuring dashboards are intuitive, accurate, and deliver clear value to members and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to translate business needs into effective, user-centered dashboard solutions.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Develop, maintain, and enhance reports and dashboards that support internal operations and member-facing offerings.
- Partner with business units to define reporting requirements and refine business questions to ensure meaningful, actionable insights.
- Query, clean, aggregate, and transform data in alignment with data management and analytics best practices.
- Design and deliver data visualizations in Tableau and Salesforce for a variety of audiences.
- Translate data into actionable insights and support stakeholders in interpreting and applying findings to inform decision-making.
Data Quality, Governance, and Documentation
- Ensure the integrity, consistency, and completeness of PAEA’s data in alignment with the Association’s data model.
- Conduct regular assessments of data quality, particularly within the Salesforce ecosystem, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with staff to troubleshoot and resolve data issues (e.g., contact data, affiliations), while implementing sustainable solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of data governance practices, including data standards, definitions, and usage guidelines.
- Develop and maintain clear, accessible documentation for data models, reporting processes, dashboards, and workflows to support organizational transparency and continuity.
- Identify and implement improvements to data workflows, reporting processes, and overall data accessibility.
Salesforce Support and Data Stewardship
- Support the organization's use of Salesforce by assisting with data quality, reporting, and basic system maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure Salesforce data and reporting practices align with business needs and organizational standards.
- Provide user support and guidance related to Salesforce reporting, dashboards, and data entry best practices.
- Assist with training materials and documentation to promote effective use of Salesforce and other data and analytics tools.
- Help identify opportunities to improve data processes, reporting capabilities, and user adoption of Salesforce features.
- Stay informed about Salesforce enhancements and work with internal stakeholders to evaluate potential improvements.
Collaboration and Organizational Support
- Serve as a strategic partner to business units in identifying data needs, defining metrics, and supporting data-informed decision-making.
- Collaborate across teams to improve access to data and foster a culture of data-driven insights.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Required
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in roles focused on data analytics, reporting, or data management.
- Expertise in Tableau with demonstrated success in the full lifecycle of dashboard development.
- Experience cleaning, validating, and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data.
- Familiarity with relational databases and data structures, including experience working with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce or similar platforms).
- Experience querying and manipulating data with SQL, SOQL, and/or SOSL.
- Ability to translate business questions into data requirements and deliver clear, actionable outputs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to communicate findings with audiences of varying technical skill levels and across different mediums (i.e., live virtual interactions and written communication).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, requiring little supervision and is adept at working remotely and with a remote workforce.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, data science, computer science, business analytics, or related field.
- Tableau-related certification (Data Analyst, Server Admin, Tableau Architect) and/or Salesforce-related certification (Data Analyst, Business Analyst).
- Experience working with Salesforce, including reporting, data management, or administrative support.
- Experience working with APIs and API-related tools (e.g., Postman).
- Experience supporting data governance practices, including documentation, data standards, and quality assurance processes
- Knowledge of best practices in data visualization and user-centered design.
- Experience in project management and/or PMP certification.

This position requires periodic travel to assigned organizational events, including the staff retreat.
Work Environment & Benefits
This position is remote, with no in-office presence required.
PAEA offers a competitive salary and benefits that considers external market compensation and maintains internal equity. The salary range for this position is $90,000-98,000 annually. The benefits package includes health, life, and disability insurances; paid time off and holidays; a 403(b) retirement plan with an 8% employer contribution; monthly wellness stipend, professional development funding, tuition assistance, and other benefits.
